Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I would have to say RFK NFC Title game vs the Cowboys was the best one...in a close one to that was the home opener at FedEx vs the Cardinals with an OT victory.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I've been to several Skins games in my lifetime, and while they were all memorable in one sense or another, my favorite experience is me being 8 years old, sitting about 15 rows up in the middle of the end zone as the Skins rode the Bandwagon right to the Super Bowl.
November 15, 1987 Redskins - Lions. Friends of the family had season tickets for years, had gotten a few extra from their seat neighbors, and my Mom, sister (4 at the time) and I were the lucky ones to get to go. I was in awe the entire time, in my Theismann jersey and my Redskins jacket. That was the game where Doug Williams came in for an inept Jay Schroeder (which at the time was my hero), and eventually lead the team to a victory that day, as well as Super Bowl XXII. I don't remember much of that game on the whole, but do remember the 4th quarter, watching the entire stadium sway back and forth, up and down, how loud it was, and it being the coolest thing ever. As nice as it is to see a game at FedEx, nothing beats seeing the Skins play at RFK, late in the season, as they make a run for the playoffs.

Cowboys game this year. 99% of Cowboys fans left by halftime.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
The very first game I ever went to was back in 97/98. It was a Dallas game, and we lost. I felt a little better after the game when I saw a loud mouthed Dallas fan try to jump levels on the ramps coming down from the 400s. As he jumped, he tripped and he landed head first onto the concrete. Normally, people don't deserve to get hurt, but this guy ran his mouth so much that I don't feel bad for enjoying it.
Also at this game, there were two women sitting in front of me who were obviously football idiots and knew nothing about their beloved Cowboys. There was another guy sitting in front of them (he actually didn't have a ticket to be there, he just kept jumping around the stadium) who got fed up with them and went into this 5 minute drunken tirade that made no sense except for at the end which concluded with '...f'n sissies'. It was so funny, and they shut up.

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
Dec. 31, 1993 RFK Stadium
The Vikings came to town and so did a ton of snow. My son Elijah was about 7 years old and loved to go to games with me but I knew this was going to be an extreamly cold weather game and not sure how long he would last. I dressed him warm and took a large canvas bag that carried a wool blanket, down parka and a few extra things. We got there and there was snow everywhere and it was brutal cold. I had to keep pulling stuff from the bag and putting them on Elijah and at one point he even got IN the bag with everything on him but refused to leave. Here he is with a positive "shaka" hand gesture. THAT is what memories are made of. Elajah turns 20 this month and still loves me and the Redskins!

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
I'll post my funniest game experience... I believe I was 13 and probably as rabid a Skins fan as I am now -- except without the season tickets. So my friends and I were insanely excited that we were ACTUALLY going to RFK to see a game; this was pretty much going to be the highlight of my 1993 (though for my mom's sake I'll say it was my Bar Mitzvah).
That day I went to see the Skins play the Jets and it was absolutely insanely bitter freezing tear the skin off your face cold. I sat in that cold and watched possibly the most awful boring football game of all time... a 3-0 game. Where the Skins lost. I am also not sure that we *actually* crossed the 50 yardline...and if Im exaggerating its not by much. The fact that the game didnt affect my love for the Skins one bit means I must really love em! Even though it was an awful game, I still think back on it fairly frequently and laugh... |

The game at FedEx against Carolina that ended our loosing steak and started our winning streak(I had season tickets that year)...I was dossing off and got back into it when I heard everyone screeming and saw Lavar sprinting down the sideline...I became a Lavar believer that day, I didn't know he was that fast.

It was a very cold day and you hardly noticed. Pure, non-stop adrenaline! The stadium shook, the Coyboys were crying....on the field and off, and Tom Landry was pissed!!! The Joe Gibbs era had officially begun! |

Re: Memory Lane: Post your best Redskins Home Game experience (RFK or FedEx)
At the Pittsburgh game I was at around the 35/45 yard line on the side far away from the ketchup bottles! I was about 15 rows back. Very good season, my friends Grandfather had been a season ticket holder since before the steel curtain.
At first, I got a lot of shit from the fans, but at the end we had a lot of good conversations. While many of the fans were ignorant they were nice. I didn't like Heinz Field, but Pittsburgh is a damn fun town. Cheap as all anything, and if you want a heart attack, get a Pimmanti Brothers sandwhich. They're famous for them.

December 19, 1993 @ RFK against the Falcons.
Elijah and I saw Neon Dion Sanders play. We later learned to hate him. lol
