You're right Brudlee, 2002 Gardener isn't coming back, he was old, had questionable judgement and character, and wanted a bundle of dough.
Buty, I don't people are as much upset about Gardener not returning as they are concerned about a lack of real starting quality players on the dline (as the 2002 Gardener was). I love teams that blitz and go after the QB. We don't appear to have the personnel to bring decent heat. |

Agreed Ramseyfan. I think that will change under Gregg Williams. Not only has he made great players out of good ones, but he has been able to draw free agent tealent to his defenses in the past. With agressive and creative blitzing, we'll get the heat we need this year.

I miss the following players from that list: Brian Mitchell, Larry Centers, Daryl Gardener (whom I agree with everybody about), Big Daddy, Champ, Marco Coleman, but most of all, Stephen Davis. He ran hard, pumped out solid yardage year after year despite the records and constant changes that plagued the 'Skins throughout his tenure. He never had great speed or power, but he had the valuable intangibles of situational awareness, great vision, strong character, and a good work ethic, which are the things that made Emmitt Smith so great.
Maybe the best release that we did, besides the way we got rid of Deion Sanders, was Michael Westbrook. That guy was a cancer in the clubhouse, was always injured, and was just an all around ass. If he had such great "potential", why didn't he do anything in Cincinnati? Westbrook was just a waste of athletic ability. |

Brian Mitchell is the whore of the NFC East. Once each team uses him up, they pass him on. Give me Morton any day. Mitchell was just about out of his prime when we traded him.

Mitchell was as true of a Redskin as anyone. Its a shame what happened to him. Yea id take Morton now, but Morton now or Mitchell ten years ago... Id have to take Mitchell.
Chad is one of the nicest people ive ever met though.

Stephen Davis is one of the elite backs in the league and I think he is the one I miss most, but I would put Brian Mitchell a close second, he got a raw deal. :vomit-smi

I'm with Summo. I almost choose Mitchell as the one I miss most earlier. Mitchell was not a "whore of hte NFL East" by choice. He wanted to be a Redskin for life - he had quality years after he left us - certainly better than whomever it was that originally replaced him (I admit, I have forgotten who that was). Plus, his intangibles are great and would have been even more magnified if he had stayed with the Skins.
Also, as for best cut/who I miss the least - Westbrook. Talked a great game, looked like the archetype for the WR position, but was an all around ass for whom all problems were really someone else's fault. And, while Cincinatti has been the black hole of careers for sometime, Westbrook was literally run out of town (he got the Keyshawn treatment before Keyshawn did). He was a bigger waste of a pick than Shuler or Howard. At least they simply flopped and moved on. |

Here's a question for you guys. Special teamers aren't generally thought of as first-ballot Hall-of-Famers. However, considering Mitchell holds all sorts of records plus only Jerry Rice and Walter Payton have more total yards than B-Mitch, would you make him a first ballot lock?
Also, could someone refresh my memory here. In Mitchell's last game with the Redskins he returned a kickoff for a touchdown in a playoff game against Tampa right? We should all be able to do that when we're past our prime

Considering how Art Monk has been screwed over the past few years, I can see BMitch not being a first ballot lock.
