Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
I'm all about personal freedoms. Helmet laws, like seat belt and some smoking laws, infringe upon personal choices. If you want to choose to risk your life and livelihood, by all means do so.
I don't wish injury on anyone - certainly not a guy like Roethlisberger, who by all accounts seems to be a swell guy. Just don't stay awake waiting for the get well soon card if your own foolishness contributed strongly to your injury.

I'm listening to this live feed now, they aren't saying much right now.
I mean the guy went through the windshield, I certainly hope he is okay. |

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
That sucks for him...he could be dead. Hopefully he has learned his lesson now.
Why ride without a helmet? Too uncomfortable? Too sissy-looking? How comfortable is having your head broken? How sissy would you look/feel if you had to wear a helmet all the time b/c of a stupid head injury (like John Olerud)? Just another case of adults acting like children.

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
While I don't agree with riding without a helmet I certainly hope Big Ben is ok and this injury is not serious. We will know shortly as the Chief of Trauma is coming out to make a statement...

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
Who didn't see this coming?!
I hope he's ok, but riding without a helmet is just dumb, dumb dumb. No excuses, riding a bike is dangerous enough. The least you can do is strap on a helmet. Dumb. |

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
UPDATE:
He is undergoing surgery for his injuries right now. Trauma surgeon very vague in his comments. Said Ben is stable but in serious condition. WOW! Hope he is ok.

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
Appearantly, he's in serious but stable condition...he's undergoing surgery for injuries. They didn't say for what though.

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
1. I hope he makes a full recovery and lives to a ripe old age.
2. I sincerely hope he did not injure anyone else with his foolish act. 3. He certainly has some explaining to do to his teamates and fans. 4. He deserves to be penalized ... enough to get his attention and maybe save his life or the life of another innocent. |

Re: Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle accident
Docs can't talk about his condition until he signs the necessary forms that allow them to do so. HIPAA prevents healthcare providers from discussing medical conditions with anyone except next-of-kin, so until Big Ben (or someone with power of attorney) signs a waiver, we're going to get a lot of vagueries and speculation.
