Re: Ahmad Brooks taken by Bengals, Rd. 3
I have seen some really idiotic points in this thread.
Bottom line, they got an All-American linebacker with a third round draft choice. I don't want to hear any Redskins fan talk about taking a guy too high when we throw away 2nd and 3rd round draft picks like they are candy wrappers. What the hell was the comparison to Ray Lewis? Ray Lewis is arguably one of the greatest middle linebackers in the history of the NFL. |

I am not saying Ray Lewis isn't a good linebacker, it is the negative aspect of him that was brought up as a comparision.

I really think you have missed the point completly and that is the comparison is that of a problem player, and his resume coming into the NFL is worse than Lewis's when he was drafted, what the actual outcome of his charector will turn out who know's for sure, but I will leave that to all the weed smoking geniuses out there. Isn't pot smoking in itself a crime? Or is it just the purchasing of the product that's illegal? Either way I am sure there are plenty of examples of individuals who do drugs regardless of the type, who are criminals. I wonder if Chris Henry smokes pot? I will say that I am absolutly sure that I don't know that Brooks will committ a murder, and I hope he never does. But then again C. Henry may never committ murder either, that doesn't mean he's not a serious problem to his team. Past history has a way of following individuals, I hope for his sake it doesn't, but when you hand big money to a problem player it sometimes can be like throwing gasoline on a fire, lets hope his problems are all in the past and stay there for his sake as an indivdual not just a football player. |

I expect a hell of a lot from any player who was passed over by thirty two teams seven times. |

no it is determined by a particular rotation based on the worse teams in the league.

what i don't like is everyone always copping the "this guy was supposed to be a 1st rounder" line for any player. Leon washington was supposed to be the #1 RB taken, sh*t happened, he was the 9th and that's where he should have gone. rodrique wright would have been a first rounder, but he screwed up and became a 7th rounder. getting kicked off your team for whatever reason is a legitimate enough reason to drop. he's not the first guy to have all world talent and off field problems that might make him a monetary risk. what if he signs his contract and gets lazy or decides to start smoking again? even though it's not as bad as wife beating or whatnot, the league can still suspend you for it. |
