Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Not worried about the stellar three points we put up on the scoreboard. Not even worried about Collins' pi$$ poor outing considering all the pressure and the safety came when back-up O-linemen were protecting him. I thought the back-up line settled down well as the game went on.
Too early for season predictions (even if, god forbid, Portis has to miss the first 5-6 weeks of the season). |

Collins looked like crap and should be the third qb. Campbell looked good but raw. McCume, Rocky, and Skyes were the only defensive 2nd stringers I liked. There was to many arm tackles very sloppy!

It is hard to make judgements based on such a game. Our starters played little and even the main backups were rotating in and out with a bunch of guys who wont be on the team. I am no less pumped than before. As long as Portis can be treated and get back to 100% I feel ok.

The offense looked a bit rusty but did you see that sick catch Loyd made heck yeah. Portis will hopefully be back and we will be fine. Besides did you see how sick our starting defense looked? they looked nasty and Taylor knocked the snot out of his second running back Rudi Johnson. After that interception they lost what like 20-30 yards took them all the way back to the 50 yard line. Defense looks GOOD!!!!! In the few plays they played.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
The only thing that disappointed me (besides the injury to Portis) was how awful Todd Collins looked.. WOW! He was beyond bad. Barring catastrophic injuries to the OL we should be fine. 1st teams looked very good IMO. I would HATE to be a backup OL or defensive player today at the next practice.. Bugel and Williams are going to KILL them!

No big deal. Been-gals beat us in Preseason last year and we made the playoffs.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
The D looked good & Campbell did too.
Brunell is our man, but he still scares me at times when he's under pressue. He doesn't throw the ball away well on his heels. Some qbs can get rid of it w/only their back foot on the ground, brunell can'ts. Timing in the new offense will probably be an issue for at least the first 1/3 of the season. |

!st preseason game, the latest team into camp, new offense, lots of new FAs, most of the game used to evaluate UDFAs and long shots... no, I am not worried.
The only thing is Portis, and we'll see about that. injuries are part of the game, eveyone has them.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
The scoreboard last night was a non-factor.
Positives: * Dominant 1st team D * Rocky McIntosh * Mike Espy * Lloyd's big catch * Jason Campbell's poise, arm and limited mistakes Negatives * Portis injury (which was led to by....) * Lloyd's busted play (is that 700 page play book too complicated?) * Todd Collins * Backup O-Line * Backup secondary

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
I remember two years ago we looked electric in the preseason opener against Denver, and then we ended up going 6-10. Last year we looked bad for a lot of the preseason and made the playoffs. That being said, it worries me that our unit doesn't loook more cohesive at this stage of the game. Disregarding the score, Cincinatti just looked much more polished. Granted, we are attempting to implement an entirely new offensive system. Still, the season is pretty soon....

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
Guys we went 1-3 last preseason, and we made the playoffs. Granted the situation was a bit different last year, we continued to suck during the season till the later half, and this year the thing about the preseason is to gauge the new offense, I still feel this game doesn't have much we need to worry about except Portis's injury.

I have to be in agreeance. I thought our first stringers looked great, but there was a great decline when we put in our second string teams. Brunell has me a bit unnerved, short-hopping a couple of balls and the int..., but we'll see. Todd Collins looked like danny werfull, only worse. They kept tearing up Kenny Wright... he looked lost and one step behind. Not a very fun night for football, but I was happy with Campbell's performance, at least against the third stringers. I'd really like to see him start a game and play with starters against starters (in the preseason) to see what he can do.

Re: After the loss to the Bengals has your season outlook changed at all?
I think we'll be fine. As long as portis comes back ready to go. But even if he misses a week or two I think that Mr Betts is up for the job in his stead.
