Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
when he was signed the general thought (from what i gathered) was "hey look, an expensive matt bowen".
GW wanted him cause in run support he won't let alstott or LT toss him aside for the game winning play. in pass coverage he's looked pretty bad though. we'll see how he does in a real scheme that tries to hide his shortcomings soon enough. |

Here's a double yawn because that's how much I'm worried about AA

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
I'm more concerned about Springs being out for to long. Man does are secondary look bad with out him. Arch will b a solid safety for us. I don't think He's really that slow.

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
aa is what he is. a good run supporter thats lacking in cover skills. sounds like a certain safety playing in dallas

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
Look, I'm not a "have faith" in the coaches guy. But you can't possibly suggest that this coaching staff has anything less than the highest degree of knowledge and experience.
So, if they see Arch is not getting the job done in M2M coverage, are they really going to put him in that position during the regular season? There are some solid things the guy brings to the table. In the right scheme, I think he can be a huge contributor to this D. But he can't be left man up against #1 WRs. And I don't think GW will do that during the regular season.

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
I'm not worried. Remember he's the only starter in the secondary who wasn't with the team last year. He's still learning the schemes and everything else about this defense. He will be a solid player, mark my words. Will he be a superstar? No. Will he be a liabilty? No, again.
Someone said he has had no good hits against anyone. Guess they weren't watching the same games I was. Just last night, one of his tackles was solid enough to make the receiver cough the ball up. Looked like a fumble to me - the play that the Skins challenged, but they lost the challenge. He will be fine and right now the play of any of the defensive players is the least of my worries. Unless the "D" learns how to score points, I'm much more worried about our offensive lack of production and our poor special teams efforts. |

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
AA isn't slow per say (he ran 4.42 at the combine and 4.37 at private workouts, an record for NFL strong safety). His main problem is he can't read offenses for shit...and if you can't anticipate the play you're probably going to be out of position.
There is no logical reason why he should be covering WR. If he can cover TE I'll be happy.

Has anyone seen or heard how Ryan Clark has looked in Pitt?
I must admit, I was a big RC fan, and thought he was a great value to the team. Last edited by Moseley_in_the_snow; 09-01-2006 at 08:34 PM. Reason: misspell |

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
Arch sucks. But GIbbs is the man so i have to trust the coaches and hope that they can make this guy real good for us.

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
It's no secret that Williams likes to expose his players in preseason. "It makes them easier to coach" is a phrase I've heard him use more than once. He knows what he's doing.

Re: Is anyone worried about Archuletta?
gregg williams does all those different packages so he won't constantly be in a position where he has to cover but if the right quarterback audibles into the right thing we are screwed cause he has looked horrible in coverage!
