Re: Sacrifice the Season
this whole thread is stupid. after just 1, thats right 1 loss, you are ready to call it a season and hand the reins over to someone who hasnt played a down in this league? if you can recall just last season, we were just 1 win away from playing in the nfc championship. i know its along time ago, but im not jumping ship just yet

Re: Sacrifice the Season
It's way too early to be making this kind of decision, or even discussing it for that matter.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
i think alot of skins fans are just getting accustomed to losing. i remember along time ago when mediocre play was not acceptable. brunells play the last 3 years have not been acceptable by anyones standards. i dont think putting campbell in now would be a bad idea he could possibly not do any worse. brunell does not get us in the end zone period we may drive down 4 times but 1 td is unacceptable.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Anyone blaming the loss to the Vikings on Brunell needs to get their head examined. He wasn't Peyton Manning, but the entire offense bears the responsibility for not getting it done in the redzone, and the defense deserves a LOT of blame for letting the Vikings have their way on third down.

Re: Sacrifice the Season
Im not defending or bashing Brunell..... but, I think eventually this offense will need to be able to score alot of points on a regular basis and i'm not sure he can do that. I think we need a playmaker at that position with the competition in this division. That is why I dont think MB will be our qb for long. Its not that he will play so bad that he loses the starting job he just wont be able make enough plays when it matters. we play some really tough teams in the near future in Dallas, Jacksonville, Giants, Colts, with a few scrub teams mixed in there. We will need to ba able to score alot of points in these games to be successful. JC might be the spark that puts takes this O to the next level.
But of course.......MB does deserve a shot....and he needs to come up big this week against Dallas. If he has another week like last week (where he didn't lose the game but he didnt do anything to win it either) we are in trouble. The qb's in this offense rutinely put up 300 yds passing days, Brunell put up less than 200.....AGAIN! Last edited by gibbsisgod; 09-16-2006 at 12:06 PM. Reason: I trust gibbs |

Re: Sacrifice the Season
This season, without a doubt will be the make or break season for Brunell. We know JG is not going to start anyone other tran Brunell as long as he can walk, so as long as he feels we can get to the playoffs (and beyond) with Brunell then this will be his last opportunity. However I think that while no one should be thinking about jumping ship at this point, many still want to see more consistent play from the QB position. I have always been a supporter of Brunell, he did have a good year last year, but that was last year, and all the teams in our division have gotten better. There are no "easy" games on our schedule. We don't look to Campbell just yet, as long as we still have a chance, and one game into the season should not change that. Brunell must play better however, and starting tomorrow night. In our run for the playoffs last year "five in a row or we don't go" it was the running of Clinton Portis, and not the passing of Mark Brunell that got us on that roll, and in the end when we needed plays from the QB position they were absent.
It' plain and simple guys, Mark Brunell must play better for this team to reach it's ultimate goal. |
