Re: How to Beat the Jaguars

If the Jags' D is susceptible to any kind of running, it's the kind Al Saunders schemes for and the kind of thing Portis specializes in.

Stroud and Henderson make up the best tackle tandem in the league. They make it darn near impossible to run up the middle. The Jags know this, and teach their linebackers to be aggressive in getting to the sideline, anticipating that RBs are going to choose to run around the middle of the D rather than through them. The linebackers are susceptible to being overly aggressive, and can over-pursue. Misdirection plays (like the line fakes one way and there's a toss out to the back in another direction) or WR reverses can do damage. Just so happens those are Saunders' favorite plays.

That and a serious cutback or two by Portis, and I can see us getting a few big plays.

The Jags D will probably be stout on a lot of plays, but if Saunders plays his cards right he can catch them with their pants down. I just hope Brunell's elbow isn't bothering him so much that he isn't able to keep the safeties honest. Because if those safeties start creeping up you can forget big plays by Portis. Brunell's elbow is important. Sounds like it will be fine, and if so, I like our chances.

No, no, no, no.

Give our Cheerleaders the job of persuading the Refs.

Far more effective.

Re: How to Beat the Jaguars

my three keys to the game...its starts with portis, followed by more portis and finally portis again. He is our best player and he needs as many touches as he can handle.

matt jones ran a 4.37, but ST has run 4.42... rogers official time is 4.44, so it's not like there's a huge difference there.

Bull.

Don't believe the hype. The cowboys had them down 10-0 in the first quarter their fans were starting to Boo them, and then our secondary started coughing up blood. A ticky Tack call on a Witten TD and a no call on a Jag Off pass interference call and the Cowboys not executing = a loss.

Their All world Tackles Stroud and Henderson? Excellent players, but the 22 yd rushing TD the Cowboys scored came when JJ sped through a HUGE hole between the two men and followed the Centre - who got a second level block on the MLB - to the pylon.

You MUST attack the centre of their line with the run. It will keep the LB's honest and force the DT's to guard running lanes rather than pin their ears back and go for #8.

Their vaunted 9ft recievers? Good players. Leftwich had four straight completions to Matt Jones to keep the yard sticks moving and helped them score another TD.

But those WR's are slow, by NFL standards. Your DB's are used to chasing around fast wr's in practice and can definately keep up to them. The question is the well thrown High/Jump ball.
Why not put #21 on Jones.

He can keep up with him and he can whack him when he goes up for those Jump Balls. He also has the mass to keep Jones from getting his shoulder inside the Coverage and shielding the pass with his body.

Will your safetys punish that play? Pick it off? Ours didn't. Not the Jump Ball Play.

I haven't seen the RB Drew-Jones, or Jones -Drew, but I did see Fred Taylor. He is simply not a game changer anymore. The Jags used him against Dallas when the Cowboys had to give their pass defence help.

Don't fear their secondary if your QB has time.
Get the ball to Moss.
Feed Portis.

Wash 17 Jags 13.
Thanks for the gameplan. Instead of telling it to us though, you should email it to the Redskins coaching staff. They need to know more than we do.
