I just don't like them (Saunders) talking to the media about it. Do it behind closed doors. It just causes more controversy than is necessary when you tell it to the media...

But just to comment, Gibbs has allowed CP this sort of freedom since he got here. Saunders is the new guy on the block and isn't used to this sort of thing. I'm sure they'll get something worked out.
Oh, well I like hearing that it's old news.... Hopefully it will is nothing. That guy on 101 picked the Giants to win....

Props to CP! It's great that he's getting recognition about his off the ball skills--and I agree, those blocks on Santana's first TD were amazing.

He's now gained big yardage for Shanahan, Gibbs, and Saunders--"system back," my ass!

And he's a cool guy--those pressers are awesome, and he just has a positive attitude and style all the time.

Yeah it sounds like some signals between Gibbs and Saunders are getting crossed. Gibbs has told Portis to get out of the game if he's tired. Now Saunders is saying he doesn't like it. Sounds like the two of them need to get together and decide how they want to handle Portis's rest.

I'd like to see Portis resting himself earlier in the game so he can be fresher for the fourth quarter, that's probably what Saunders was expressing. He's probably fine with Portis taking himself out in the 2nd quarter to get a breather, but I imagine that when the game's on the line in the 4th quarter, he wants Portis in there.

I'm sure they'll clear it up.

PS It certainly seems that Al and CP have been on the same page the last two weeks.

I agree, closed door meeting is better. But there's still not much to worry about IMO. Portis isn't like Terrell Owens. If Saunders says a little something to the media about Portis he's not going to go all war of words with the coach. He'll meet with Gibbs and Saunders, they'll work it out, and the only thing the media will see from Portis will be a bunch of goofy costumes and hear about him searching for Southeast Jerome.

Speaking of which, after hearing Portis's interview yesterday, I can so see him resurrecting Southeast Jerome if the Skins whoop the Giants this weekend. Next week he'll come back saying "Last year Southeast Jerome was kidnapped in NY, but this week we found him and took him back."

Yeah I wish Saunders didn't make his feelings public, but you'd have to think that Gibbs has addressed that with him.

It's interesting that Gibbs even lets his assistants talk to the media. I know a lot of coaches don't allow it. Marty Schottenheimer comes to mind. He says it's so that there's one voice speaking for the entire staff. But I know other FO execs like to see how assistants handle themselves in the public to gauge their abilities to be a head coach and deal with that aspect of it.

Ok, back to the lecture at hand

let portis be. anyone who runs/ blocks as well as he does deserves some types of freedoms. and if coach Gibbs is alright with it, so am i. anyway, we need someone to entertain us on thursdays

We ran like we were being chased towards the end of the game vs the Jags. I don't see any reason to leave Clinton and have him dogging it while Betts warms the bench. If you are tired, take a breather.

I can certainly understand where Saunders is coming from though. It probably messes with his personal packages which affects his play selection.

Re: all effort, all the time: Clinton Portis

this article should have come out last season. seeing him throw blocks is one of the best things about watching CP.

can't believe people had the nerve to question the preseason play when after knocking a blitzer's helmet off he raced AHEAD of a starting cornerback and bodyslammed him to the turf.

THATS WHO HE IS. and God bless him for it.

After two plus years, I'm definitely ready to say we got the better end of the Champ Bailey deal, even considering we gave up the 2nd rounder.
NO QUESTION
