Re: Hall to be replaced?

I have to say, Im a bit pissed. Last year when Hall was hurt, and Novak was our kicker, everyone was jumping on that bandwangon and was all about him, and I was just not impressed, and obviously neither is anyone in the NFL, and for us to have to bring him in midseason for a second straight year sets my blood a boiling. I loved Hall, he is consistent, and used to be able to hit fg's from a fairly good distance, but he's hurt AGAIN...and from WHAT...fatigue..are you kidding....you're a f'ing NFL kicker, if you're fatigued by the fifth week you should find another proffession....if we don't bring someone in this next offseason Ill shit my pants..... (I tried to find a shit-my-pants smilie, but none exists... someone should really get on that)

That's what I look like before, during and after I crap my pants.

Hall's injury prone to be certain. I like Edinger. He's made a couple of decent clutch kicks, including a game-winner against us at Chicago a few years ago. His stats may not be the best in the world but he did kick in Chicago, aka The Windy City.

Yes, that's right. And answer me this. Isn't there extensive stretching exercises for the kicker's leg and groin areas they utilize to MAKE SURE they don't pull hammys, groins, muscles, whatever....and hot could this produce "a tired leg' that we've know been told about!!!!!!! I't just sooooo frustrating to hear Hall's going down again.

I think JG was convinced Hall was reasonably healthy and was going to be able to make it through the season. However, the time has come when we have to look in a different direction due to the consistency of his nagging injuries. Hall is a veteran kicker and very good when healthy. We know how much JG likes a vet at that position that's why he continued to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Hall to be replaced?

Ya know in the offseason I thought that was a good idea, but I think Hall has kicked adequately this season. He had a horrendous kick against the Vikes that there's no excuse for. However, the one yesterday really made no difference. Other than that he's kicked very well this season. Those are his only 2 misses. Now, if they have an issue with him not getting his kickoffs deep enough, that I can see, but I think Hall has returned to being a reliable kicker.

They just reported on Comcast sportsnet, that Novak is in MD, and he will workout for the Skins noon tomorrow.

Re: Hall to be replaced?

yes, and a LOT of people here saw the need, as did the entire 980 staff, but nothing was done. longwell was available and used to bad weather too. punter you only had the option to overpay zastidul (sp?) or draft/sign plackemeier, koch, torp, or weatherford (i voted for koch - he's played alright for the raven's so far).

again, like CB/DB/LB and OL depth, plenty of people questioned the inaction.

it's too late now though. we've got what we've got. todd peterson and novak are left overs btw. don't expect too much better from either of them - it's not like they were able to find a real job.

Too late for the Redskins, but not too late for their fans to bitch about!

How about this one? Going after Randle El AND Brandon Lloyd? Why not just Randle El and David Patten? Thrash can still play in 4 wideout sets.

we hit on that in the offseason too. i actually think i liked lloyd better at the time, but i didn't do enough homework on that, cause he's a bit DOA. El can be more productive than what you saw in pittsburg though, i'm sure of that now.

I thought we'd just get one and then a depth guy (like reche caldwell or some such) to round out the bunch.

it's a killer to miss on big money guys though. draft busts (outside the top 5) aren't expensive mistakes. yeah you miss on adding talent, but you're only out a draft pick.

Re: Hall to be replaced?

Here is why I love Novak: one constant in football is, when a kicker nails a gamewinning kick, either in OT or at the end of regulation, and said kick is nulled because of penalty, he always, ALWAYS, misses the second try (unless he missed the first try, then he will usually make the second attempt). Novak nailed two game winners in a row against Seattle last year, defying everything I thought I knew about the laws of football! Good for him!

Re: Hall to be replaced?

id rather have novak than peterson. seeing peterson's last year state he didnt even attempt a kick over 50 and only tried 4 kicks over 40 yards. we already know hall can hit under 40 yard field goals, we need a guy with a bigger leg, especially for kickoffs

Re: Hall to be replaced?

I think Peterson is the replacement if anyone due to his experience and we all know JG and his veteran fetish.
