Why couldn't they have been "beasts" this season? It's always about 'next season' for the Redskins, isn't it?

This team doesn't seem concerned with keeping players around long enough to learn the "system".

Re: Walt Harris

I was calling for walt harris's head last year and I meant it. I dont' care what he's done elsewhere he was a weak link here...

BUT Ryan Clark was a very bright spot on our D. I don't understand why we let him go. I guess the AA thing was there, and hindsight is 20/20, but we need help at LB (holdman) and across the D-line a lot more. Ryan Clark was a SOLID safety. He hit hard and covered, and he was one of my favs last year, mainly because as unheralded as he was, he was a force in the secondary that you had better respect...

He's doing quite well for pitt this year. My neighbor is a pitt nut. he goes to all the games and all that and he absolutely loves Ryan Clark. From what I've seen he's done well at pittsburg too.

He was no worse that Carlos Rogers is now. And Harris wasn't a #9 overall pick.
No but he was however the #13th overall pick!

Fair enough.

But aren't we glad he's not here anymore stinking our secondary up?

Oh, wait...

Someone should go on the "blogging with Vinny Cerrato" portion of the Skins homepage and just cuss him out. We DEF make the worst player personnel decisions in the league.
When will Skins fans WAKE UP!!! Gibbs gets the final call on all personnel/coaching moves since he returned 3 years ago. I'm sick of everyone blaming The Danny and Vinnie. If Gibbs says he wants someone, then by God, The Danny will spend to get him, be it a coach or a player. Gibbs chose to go after Brunell as his initial move. Some of his acquisitions have been solid (Washington, Portis, Moss, Griffin). It bothers me most that Gibbs doesn't structure cap expenditures in a way that allows us to hold onto solid players like Smoot and Pierce. He prefers the paying big money for the castoffs from a terrible 49ers team. Go figure.

Re: Walt Harris

gibbs seems to delegate an awful lot, so it is possible that he's following bad advice... otherwise he's not doing the proper due diligence and the scouting staff needs to be revamped and gibbs needs to be remove from his GM duties. he said he talks over all the moves with vinny and dan snyder, so they do have some kind of input.

Re: Walt Harris

walt harris sucked, couldnt cover, and couldnt tackle once he gave up a completion. Those were probably just interceptions he got in zone coverage, which every OTHER team runs effectively.

Re: Walt Harris

I put in a call to Joe2. I suggested that he give my son's Freshman D coach a call. The entire Defensive unit could either run laps or LEARN how to tackle. At the moment, THAT would be a shitload of laps

I know our defense WAS bad but since Brandon Moore was promoted to the starting lineup along with Keith lewis our defense has found a groove. Remember the name of Brandon Moore he will be a very special player. Walt has also been holding down his side of the field and making some big plays.

Now we just need to send Derek "Blows Ass" Smith to the bench and keep that bust Sammy Davis off the field. I really wish Nolan would just get over his D.Smith man crush though...

Re: Walt Harris

In my opinion the defense stated going down hill from the time they let Pierce go, followed by Clark & Harris.

I am sick of seeing too many ex-Redskins go to other teams an have good seasons over the last few years.

It's hard to believe the missed tackles, penalties, being out of place. That leads me to believe there is a lack of basic fundamentals that the players have decided to either ignore or have forgotten.

If the coaching staff fined players for missed tackles, stupid penalties etc. I wonder how quickly the players would get their heads in the game.

Re: Walt Harris

Hindsight sure is 20/20. At the end of last season if we took a poll I'm sure that an overwhelming number of people would have been in favor of letting Harris go. Now people are crying that it was a bad move. Hilarious.
