Also what exactly does a Core redskin mean? Is it a term to describe players who have outstanding work ethic and lead by example? Or is it a term to mean guys we absolutely have to have on our team to win the games? Couldn't stating that you are a core Redskin make some of the lesser known guys feel a little slighted? I don't see other teams terming their players as core guys - why do the Skins do this?

That is an excellent point. Gibbs may not single out players who are underperforming, but what does it say to a player who gets omitted from the "core" list that Gibbs always talks about?

Props to Bill B on that one.

A core Redskin is one with a big fat contract that there is no way we could let go of because the cap hit would kill us.

Again, I'm making this decision based on what I perceive as a core Skin and not neccessarily their talent or what I've seen on the field.

I would have to start with Jon Jansen. I think this guy truly bleeds burgundy and gold.

Chris Samuels.
Rock Cartwright.
Mike Sellers.
Ethan Albright.
Randy Thomas
LaDell Betts
Ade Jimoh
Chris Cooley
Jason Campbell
Sean Taylor
Santana Moss
Reynaldo Wynn
Phillip Daniels
Derrick Dockery

Yep, that's it.

Why do so many people have Wynn and Daniels. Becasue they are good locker room guys? I think you have to be productive on the field too and neither of them are productive.

Moss
Portis
Jansen
Samuels
Campbell
Cooley
Sellers
Springs
Washington
Taylor
Thomas
Betts
Griffin
Rocky
ARE
Cartwright

My core Redskins are:

Quote:
1. Me
2. Myself
3. I
If there is anything I have learned is that there is no such thing as "core Redskin." This league is about "what have you done for me lately." I would even go as far as proclaim that Sean Taylor won't be back with the Skins when his contract is up. He'll want back-pay just like Champ and the Skins will let him walk. Hell, I'm not even sure he wants to be back with the Skins.

I don't buy this "core Redskins" horse shit. Core my ass.

Re: Name Your Core Redskins

Well like I said, talent aside. I did forget to add James Thrash.

But here's how I see a core Redskin. Someone that consistently plays through injuries. They rarely miss games. I get the impression that losing really bugs them than more than other people in the locker room. And they promote unity.

Here's my reasoning for including Wynn and Daniels. During the off season, they planned a fishing trip for all the Dlineman. Just to get that chemistry thing going. That said a lot to me about how much they really care about the team. Also, I get the impression they would take a cut to stay on the team, we'll see.

I agree- it's a bunch of garbage. This is a term from the Gibbs I era, when he could hold on to a core group like jacoby, Bostic, Warren, Monk, etc., for 10-12 years.

Those days are gone. It's a different league now. .

Re: Name Your Core Redskins

On Offense:

The entire starting O-line
Moss
Randle El
Portis
Betts
Cooley
Sellers
Campbell

On Defense:

Griffin
Daniels
Washington
McIntosh (hopefully)
Springs
Taylor
Rogers

On Special Teams:

Rock Cartwright
Ade Jimoh
Thrash
K. Campbell
Frost (his punting was vastly more consistent the 2nd half of the season)

No, but basically the whole offense with the exception of Lloyd. I expect this offense to be nearly unstoppable if Campbell can get up to speed. On Defense, I'd ditch Wynn, Archuleta, Holdman, and Marshall. I would pick up a more permanent solution at SS. In addition to the core I listed, I'd keep Golsten, Salavea, and Montgomery for DT depth, and Andre Carter as our lone pass rushing DE. I would then spend the 1st round pick on the best pass rushing DE/LB available. I believe it would be a huge mistake to just blow the team up, so in that regard, yes, I'm in favor of keeping most of it intact.

Good then let his ass walk cause he can't cover anybody. All he want's to do is try and blow people up instead of making the tackle. Let him walk.....as long as we get something for him.
