Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today? You're just rolling in the negativity today, more so than usual.

Re: Mort on the Portis trade rumors

I would be pleasantly surprised if they traded Betts. Not because I have anything against him but because it would be very savvy.

Think about it:

- They showcased him and he thrived.
- They resigned him to backup money.
- His value would probably never be higher than it is right now.

And because of all of these good reasons....there is no chance in hell that they would do it.

They're going to need his effort, because gone are the days when teams can rely soley on one back to carry the load through a sixteen game season.
E James
L Tomlinson
L Johnson
F Gore
W Parker

These guys all carried the load and I probably forgot a couple. It doesn't happen as much but it can be done.

I know that Portis has plenty left in the tank. The ridiculous rumors were started by people who can't see the big picture. The same people that annoited the Giants then Cowboys then Chargers and now the Patriots.

The same type that says Taylor is the greatest player to ever suit up after the Carolina game and then say that he is "mediocre" because he had to pick up the slack for an injured defense that lacked talent on every level.

This is a strength on our team. But it would become a weakness (depth) if we let one of them get away.
Just an FYI the other back was Joe Washington....

Its hard not to agree with this because what the redskins have been doing since Dan Snyder took over is not working. The player signings are bad and the draft is almost non-existant. I'd love to see the Redskins completely revamp the way they do business into more of the Steelers, Pats mold.

You'd rather lose with young inexpensive talent? Why? What do you care how much the Redskins spend? As long as they're within the NFL guidlines I really don't care how much they spend. I do however care about the team's performance. If mistakes were made in player or coach evalulations then they need to be addressed. I for one would be extremely disappointed if the Skins traded Portis and kept Ladell "I can't hold on to the ball when it counts" Betts.

do you guys realize how many football fans wished their teams owner would spend money? snyder isnt a football man, but i dont think anyone would argue he is trying to do what it takes to win

Seriously, I couldn't agree more. It's just stupid to think we would get rid of Portis....

Snyder is 100X better than Jeffrie Lurie. That said, I'm not sure theres anything the Eagles could really do to better their team. They are so strong throughout that roster, it's very impressive.

Full disclosure (3/19/06): http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-l...no-talent.html

If your personel guys know what they are doing, your owner doesn't need to spend a bunch of cash.

NOTE TO THOSE WHO THINK A TEAM CAN'T HAVE A HEAD COACH/GM: The personel guy of the Iggles is Andy Reid.

Clearly because we don't have any good players at all.
