Re: Grimm and Steelers had Verbal Agreement (rumor)

Their rumors, on the other hand, are less than reliable. They do a good job of reminding people, however, when their rumors prove true. Moreover, their "rumors" are oftentimes crib notes of articles reported by other more established media outlets (e.g., ESPN). For example, on 1/20/07 at 9:17 p.m. they reported that "their sources" told them that Tomlin was going to be hired. Then, 13 minutes later, they post a story that Mort at ESPN is reporting that Tomlin is to be hired. I would bet that more often than not, "their sources" consist of SI.com, ESPN.com. |

Re: Grimm and Steelers had Verbal Agreement (rumor)
PFT is solid. I cannot think of one instance that they have reported something as fact that was in fact just a rumor. They are clear about when they are editorializng, stating fact, and or rumor mongering. They actually poke fun at themselves for it. There are stories that they have totally ignored because they thought they were too rumor based. The issues with Seab Salisbury come to mind. They are solid. The only people who dislike them are the ones in competition with them. The ESPNs of the world don't like that they report what they hear without filtering it not piss someone ina league office off.
PFT also owns up when they screw a story up. |

Re: Grimm and Steelers had Verbal Agreement (rumor)

Re: Grimm and Steelers had Verbal Agreement (rumor)
I would have a hard time believing that a team would hire a person just because he was a minority. I know they have that rule they have to interview at least 1 minority and maybe they where just going through the motions thinking Grimm was their guy. Then they have the interview and like Tomlin over Grimm. Theres just too much money involved to pick a coach just because he is a minority and this says allot about Tomlin because the Steelers have a history of great coaches.
