However, I would like to do something that could possibly help him with the HOF. While it is a noble cause to donate to a charity, I don't think that helps his cause. Does anybody have any idea what the possibility of joining forces with some of the other Skins sites, and Redskin land in general to form a union to deliver a message to Canton??? I don't know what something like that would take, or how it would be recieved
Just so my position is clear, the goal is not to just donate to charity. The goal is to perform a project in the area, be it rehabbing a rec center, or working with habitat for humanity, or even trying to do something with Art's Good Samaritan foundation, but we want to actually construct something as a group, as a team. Something that we can dedicate when we're finished.

Petitions are a nice idea but have basically zero impact. I'm asking people to get off their seats and get their hands dirty. This only works if we all join together.

There's multiple benefits here:
1. We get to say Thank You to Art.
2. We give back to the community the way Art did/does.
3. We can show how strong Art's fan base is.
4. You know any other HoF candidates who had their fans do this on their behalf? Harry Carson I don't think so.
5. We will certainly get media coverage if we do this right. And that's going to help Art's cause.
Art would never campaign for himself the same way he would never do an endzone dance after scoring a TD. He would just go back to doing the right thing. I think it's time that we, his fans, stop protesting and screaming, and do what Art would have done: lead by example.

I considered trying to contact them, but I have a feeling Art would not want to be involved, because he's just not like that. So I'd say let's not go that route, this should be something entirely by us for the community, that we're doing because we're fans of Art's. If there's any implication that Art's involved it might look like some kind of self-serving effort (though anyone who would actually think that would be crazy), and that works against us.

If you want to volunteer to contact GSF and find out if they have any ideas for a building project or some kind of large scale thing we can work on, that would be great.

Also, I certainly don't think we need to be thinking windfall terms here. If we are going to do a project like rehabbing a building or something, we can partner with companies like Lowe's or the Depot who do these kinds of things for their own community service programs, and get materials and so forth.

Mainly what we need is people willing to volunteer their time. Hopefully more than a few with actual skills Donations will be important at a certain point, but they would almost certainly be small-scale donations and we're not there yet.

Well I had talked to them last year about partnering up with them. This is when we were going to do that big charity flag football game with the other fan sites. (That ultimately led to Tony McGee being involved with us.)

But you make good points.

Re: Let's Do Something For Art.

I think hat any Redskins fan who has a son this year should name him "James Arthur" or possibly just "Monk". It would be a really cool name if your last name started with "M". For example "Monk McRoberts" or "Monk Masterson". The unusual nature of the name would forever bear witness to the great man's achievements.

Re: Let's Do Something For Art.

Again, it's good therapy to sign an Internet petition, but that's about all it's good for:

Urban Legends Reference Pages: Inboxer Rebellion (Internet Petitions)
