We couldn't sign many fa's that offseason because of the cap. The only real signings were Patten & Rabach, and there was the trade for Moss.
I look for a similar offseason this year, even if there's one big signing it will be fairly quiet otherwise.
I don't think it's a coincidence that we've struggled right after those big offseasons. Let's hope that a low key offseason brings come continuity.
I couldn't agree more with your comments! I think we'll lay low during this offseason, and hopefully the good things that happened toward the end of this past season will carry over into this coming season. I know almost everyone has given up on Gibbs around here, but I think he'll do all he can to make sure that 5-11 never happens again under his watch! The man is unquestioned when it comes to making adjustments!

Gibbs 1 was unquestioned when it comes to making adjustments. Not Gibbs 2.

LOL like the haters need a reason, please. Even in a playoff season there were plenty of haters to go around. Winning doesn't change that.

I don't recall many haters during the 5-0 run, or after the win in Tampa...

Granted, I started to have my doubts when that same 11-6 team started taking dumps on the field in '06.

Start making wise personnel decisions and threads like these don't exist.

You'll always have people finding something to complain about. I don't care how well our team is doing. It is just in some people's nature to complain....it's like an obsessive compulsive disorder. Some people just live to see the other shoe drop.

Please you've gotta be kidding. We still hear about the win in Tampa and how pathetic the offense was. Sometimes I think it might have been better if we just lost that game so we wouldn't have to hear how that win or that season was such a fraud.

In today's NFL there's always the possibility of one of these "worst to first" feel-good stories popping up in Washington next season, but other than hoping for something of that nature I can see no reason to be especially optimistic about 2007.

Just what is a "hater"? Seriously, I'd like to hear the definition, because I can't help but wonder if people who just make unpopular obersvations are getting lumped in with the folks who will always find something to gripe about.

Good point. People who make unpopular observations aren't haters. People like CHIEF CHUCKING MY SPEAR are haters.

Re: It's Time For The Skins' Super Bowl Starting With Free Agency

We really need Montgomery and McIntosh to step up big time this year if we're gonna have a successful off-season. Their emergence would take a lot of the pressure off the work we'll have to do to rebuild the front 7.

As it is, we'll still need to find at least a starting DE, starting MLB, and coverage LB even if they do, at minimum.

Re: It's Time For The Skins' Super Bowl Starting With Free Agency

As I see it, we can leave the offense alone, perhaps start finding some young depth for the OL using the BAP appraoch later in the draft.

I think we are ok at safety, have a #2 corner, and one quality LB and one quality DE.

So the priority has to be CB, LB, and DL. Except for Washington and Carter, I don't think anyone else on our front 7 would start for any other team. Springs might give us one more year, but we still need to be groomig somebody else now.

So the success of our Superbowl off-season will depend on how well we can plug those gaps in our defense.

Sorry Redskins, you prove something to me and I'll give you the benefit of a doubt. I've seen nothing from this team to indicate we'll be a winning team next year either. I hope we are, but there's no reason for us to be optimistic in the offseason any more. Until something translates to the field, just more of the same from the Washington Deadskins.

Re: It's Time For The Skins' Super Bowl Starting With Free Agency

You didnt hear me complain when we went to the playoffs,my only complaint was brunell couldnt play because he was hurt. Gibbs should have pulled him in sea for ramsey at least we could had a threat to throw the ball late in the game. If we were winning i would be thrilled but the future looks bleak as of right now. Hard to be happy when you see our team keep trading away picks, not keep our own players and overpaying every year for players. What overprice reciever our we going to overpay this year? We never have picks that what kills alot of us here. I rather miss on a pick that get killed on the salary cap because we miss in FA. That hurts the team more. Patten is a bust, randel el is a punt returner period at best a third wr. Lloyd sucked in SF and is a cancer here. Give espy a chance he could surprise someone.

Hater: is someone who doesnt drink the kool-aid juice anymore. Someone who doesnt buy the hype their team is selling. Someone who is tired of losing all the time while watching other teams getting better. Someone who tired of their team trading away pick every year, and signing everyone else overpriced players. Need me to go on? Were tired of the B.S. this team is trying to sell us every year. Always a quick fix no plan for the future.
