Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
too much of a distraction... we don't need it again and I wouldn't waste a roster spot. we already have players taking up depth that don't need to be here....

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
You know something, I really think we need to look at this from LaVar's point of view. He was the face of this team for his entire tenure in Washington, except for maybe his last year. I feel bad for the guy, I mean, the coaches just came in and booted him, and let freaking WARRICK HOLDMAN play instead of him! I'm sure he was very upset, and I'm sure there are probably a lot of players who would not be able to bite their tongues when they leave a situation like that. Imgaine if you busted your ass for a company for six years, were known as a key guy in the company, then a new boss comes along, and they just fire you. Would you be able to walk away and just bite your tongue? I know for a fact I wouldn't!!!!!
If he wants to come in for a low price, I'd really like to have him back. This is unlikely, but he's man, he should be able to sit down like a man and have a talk with Gibbs and Williams and so they can tell him exactly what his role will be on the team. If anything, I believe that most of the players would like to have him back, and he'll bring a swagger to our defense that was missing last year.

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
I would welcome him back as a DE and Vet min. He was playing DE back in 05 when his knee healed up. He might be worth it. I would love to see it.

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
I am now dumber after reading this thread. I can guarantee you three things about LaVar.
1. He will not be resigning with the Giants 2. He will not be resigning with the Redskins. 3. He will not be resigning with the team that hires Dale Lindsey as their Linbackers coach! |

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
Im not being sarcastic here, When did he say Joe Gibbs was the worst coach he ever played for? I remember him saying Joe Gibbs was in the trinity as far as coaches are concerned and if Joe Gibbs had wanted Lavar to stay in DC he would have been there. I mean Dale Lindsay said some pretty bad things about Lavar while he was there, so dont blame it all on Lavar.

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
I dont think that is a very reliable source. I dont expect much from this one. If he comes back it is only to retire.

Dale Lindsay was canned, so that tells you that Gibbs, and maybe GW too, didn't like his style. That tells me that Gibbs may not have been thrilled with the way Lindsay handled Lavar, which tells me that Gibbs' door could possibly be cracked slightly when it comes to welcoming Lavar back. Secondly, you're acting like Lavar Arrington has options. I don't think he can dictate who he'll sign with. His achilles is devastated right now, and if he were a prominent free agent in the minds of GMs around the league, I think we would have heard of him meeting with some teams by now. I think Lavar's options are limited. So if he isn't going to get paid well, from his standpoint, why not go back and play in the town where he still maintains his permanent residence. Why not go back and play for the fan base that will still embrace him. He's an emotional guy, he often can't control his emotions. He's likely a wreck emotionally right now, having to deal with his injury, and with no team coming knocking at his door in this crazy market, his emotions might be running high, and he might be thinking a homecoming would feel great. He's gotten three big paydays in his career already, his rookie deal with the Skins was a big one, then he signed that big extension with us, and then he got paid by the Giants. Same thing happened with Smoot, they both got paid already, and things didn't work out. They've got their money, now maybe it's time to just go back to their comfort zone. And if it's vet minimum, what does the team have to lose? There's no signing bonus involved, meaning no cap ramifications. We could cut him in training camp and be no worse for the wear. I still find this all very unlikely, but to insinuate that it's not even worth discussing is wrong.

Re: Crazy Lavar Rumor!
What is he going to do if he did come back? I can't see any place for LaVar, it would appear we're ready to move on. The only difference between LaVar, Elvis, and Kennedy is that he's not dead yet, this guy just continues to surface.

Q: "Who is the worst coach you ever played for?" A: "Joe Gibbs" There was no follow up, or additional "if, ands, or buts". You could even see that reporter was somewhat shocked by the answer. LaVar aint coming back.
