Re: Clayton: NFC big questions

I'm down with trading and the sorts...

I'm just trying to hold on to some of those draft picks for a little while.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. Even injury prone pass rushers don't often sign for the vet min.

And maybe the Skins can pick up Dwight Freeny, he is unhappy in Indy and skipping voluntary workouts. Hell, if we give up next year's 6th round pick they would probably throw in Manning, Harrison, and Wayne. WELCOME TO FANDOM! (Hopefully it isn't necessary, but obviously this is sarcasm)

Re: Clayton: NFC big questions

Call me crazy, but I really like the fact we have all of our draft picks. I know our line is older then christmas but lets see what our defence is like healthy this year. We can draft some guys next year for the line which would be a helluva lot more cap friendly. PLUS, I understand our D sucked last year but football is a team sport, what about our OFFENCE, if they can keep the D off the field with the run and get some leads, that might help to right?

I bet Hillary or Aunt Viv could post as many sacks as Daniels did last season.

Seriously though, either Justin Smith or Will Smith would be great additions, but I don't see either of them coming cheaply.

Re: Clayton: NFC big questions

JLC mentioned the possibility of trading for Buffalo's Aaron Schobel. I think would be the most intriguing possibility.

He knows GW's system, he's in his prime, and he's put up some pretty nice sack numbers the past two seasons (26).

What makes me nervous about the Skins pursuing Will Smith/Justin Smith is that these two guys are actually good. They'll have another draft like this past one if they make one of these deals. A 3rd for Duckett and he was nothing, now they're trying to get a starter...if that doesn't say a starter and a 1st, I don't know what does to the Skins...

In all seriousness, though, I don't know if Justin/Will is worth much more than a 3. If Moss moves for a 4, Will/Justin Smith shouldn't fetch more than a 3rd round pick, then the question becomes, aren't they both worth more to their team than a 3rd round pick? The answer to that question has gotta be yes. I don't see the deal happening, but the Skins have pulled off stranger things.

Matty - is he unhappy in Buffalo or do the Bills not want to pay him? Also, was there any mention on what we would have to give up to get him?

Here is what he said exactly:

Well, I hear that things between Buffalo and pass-rushing end Aaron Schobel are getting dicey. He wants a new deal (he has 2 years left but is way underpaid compared to other players of his ilk) and I get the sense the Bills might eventually put more effort into dealing him. Now, would owner Ralph Wilson do a deal with Dan Snyder, one of his not-so-favorite-people? Maybe not. But I know Schobel was a stud in Gregg Williams's system and I know he would be welcome, if not coveted, around here.

Thanks for the info. I think if they were willing to trade him I would hope the Skins would at least listen.

He should be kissing Dan's "hairy beanbag" ( There's Something About Mary....CLLLLASSIC) for the extra cash !

Re: Clayton: NFC big questions

Is Jared Allen and the chiefs going to part ways? I know he was looking to get a new deal this year or get traded. He would be a great pickup if we didn't have to give more than next years 3rd for him. That being said he may have woked things out with KC. I don't know.
