Re: Playing good WR's
Why would that be the case? Springs isn't getting any younger and we're going to have to replace him sooner rather than later.

Smoot on the other hand, is a horrible tackler. He does have a nose for the ball, but what makes anyone think that the adequite cover skills he had in his first stint in Washington, that have been almost completely absent for the last two season, will just magically come back? |

Now against No. 2 and slot receivers (and TEs and backs and just about everyone else), we got absolutely murdered. I wouldn't expect much change in this, except that better LB coverage should take away some of the underneath flat stuff.

Re: Playing good WR's
This is pretty much dead on.
We know the guy can play the run among the best in the league. He's just got to show that he can cover with a degree of NFL competancy in his third year. If he can do this, he can be a very valuable 2nd CB for us for 10 years.

Re: Playing good WR's
Rogers looked like he was moping half the year, like something was wrong & he pouted about it. athletically he can be a top 10 corner in the nfl, he's looked quite good at times.
I'm willing to give him a pass for a bad year, since ALL of the D was so out of synch. |

Re: Playing good WR's
I seem to remember Gibbs saying that Carlos played a good portion of last season with a broken hand (or at least broke it and came back asap to try and help the team) - as can be seen from examples like TO, a hand injury can cause havoc when trying to catch the ball (possibly causing many of his drops) - plus CBs have been described as WRs would can't catch so add a hand injury to that and its not suprising all the drops.
I reckon Carlos starts in our 3-5-6-9 defensive backfield (Springs 3rd overall, Tayor 5th, Landry 6th, Rogers 9th) and Smoot coming off the bench but playing substantial minutes allowing us to keep our top 2 CBs fresh due to a rotation. |

Re: Playing good WR's
With our CB tandem, and our Safety tandem....NO PROBLEM!
