Remember, Cowher won year in and year out... his staff was always being pulled to be head coaches, his players were gone to free agency, and Bill RARELY missed the playoffs. Your crazy thinking he only did it because of Grimm. |

Cower's whole philosophy is so close to Schotenheimer's. Would Danny really want that again?

Forget GW and forget Al. You a proven winner in Bill Cowher! For years he played smash mouth football and won. Run the ball and play good defense. Isn't that what we did when we went to the playoffs two years ago? Why wouldn't we want that? Not to mention, cowher won a ring with less talent then other teams. Big Ben...lets get real.

Gibbs won't quit. He'll play out his contract.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
I hope your right hess. But whenever that time comes wether it's the end of this season or next season, two max. Hopefully he might consider moving up to full time President/GM, but I think only time will tell, and this season will have alot to do with that descission, no repeats of 06. If something gosh aweful like that were to happen (WHICH BY THE WAY I DON'T THINK SO....I SEE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR) he might have a belly full!
I think BC would be a fine replacement at that time.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
I dont think there is a better replacement for Gibbs than BC the only other person other than GW and BC i can see running this team is Russ Grimm... other than that i have NO IDEA who else out there we would consider worth going after (Pete Carroll?)

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
"League Source"...yeah right. Even if this is true that the Redskins have already started talking to Cowher, it would be the biggest show of "no confidence" in Gibbs from the organization. And that same message would be received by the players.
I just do not see that happening. Training camp has not even started and the organization is already talking about a new coach for '08? How much sense does that make? I don't believe a word of that article. |

i like cowher. good, successful coach...
but for some inexplicable reason, i'd prefer to not have him in DC. maybe it isn't even the preseason, but still... no cowher! |

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
Unless our D is stellar like in "05 Williams isn't going to be such a hot commodity. He already had a crappy short tenure at Buffalo, so he has that hanging over his head. Cowher is a proven winner, still relatively young and the guy that can get us to the promised land. I love coach Gibbs, but when he did come back I know it wasn't going to be for that long. Either way I see coach taking a hike after this season. If we don't make the playoffs, he will split as he does not have the time for a longer rebuilding process, and if we do make the playoffs he can retire vindicated. Saunders might get pissed, but if we falter this season again offensively, he can take that 700+ and go somewhere else. Gibbs offense thus far is way superior.

Re: Cowher Talking to Skins about Job in '08?
A guy like Cowher is going to be in very high demand in NY and Cleveland next year after they jettison their dud- head coaches. Given that demand and his leverage over the market, I suspect Cowher is going to want full control over football decision making, which leaves no room for Gibbs or Cerrato. He'll also likely want his own staff and to switch to a 3-4 defense which he used for his entire tenure in Pittsburgh. Do we really want that much turmoil and turn-over in the coaching staff AGAIN?
Personally, I think BC is a fantastic coach, I just don't want to have to sit through 2-3 rebuilding years and new systems, especially if we improve to a 10+ win team this year why blow it all up? I'm with the naysayers...stay inside the organization if Gibbs leaves and provide some kind of continuity if at all possible. |

Whatever dude. Say what you will, but it is a discredit to Gibbs if the organization let something like this leak out, if they are indeed talking to Cowher. Some guys just see that Dallas helmet on my sig and instantly want to take a stab, when I have said nothing to cause offense. |
