Re: Federal Agents Raid Vick's Property

This whole thing smells of sabotage. The Atlanta Falcons management doesn't want Vick to lead their team; so they plant a bunch of evidence at one of his homes that he rarely visits. That way when he gets busted, they can get rid of him without absorbing a major cap hit by citing contract violation due to illegal activites. It's happening all around the NFL. Wait till we get a good commissioner who's not afraid to take on the real bad guys.

I don't believe Vick is going anywhere soon due to the salary cap hit, it would be over $ 16 million this season. If the Falcons do release him at some point it would probably be after June 1, 2008 when the hit would be lower and could be spread over 2008 & 2009 caps.

I don't think Vick is going anywhere. I don't think he is ever going to be a 65% passer. That is not his strength. That's also not what makes a good QB. Some guys, like Ben R. McNabb, Vince Young and Vick are playmakers, not pure pocket guys. He doesn't turn it over that much and he does not have good WR's so keep that in mind too. But he has gotten his team to the NFC Champ, Div round and made a Pro Bowl or two. Alot of guys in the NFL have not done that. So far IMO he is a middle of the pack NFL QB.

So you really think they are going to cut arguably the most popular player in the league?

The man hasn't been charged with a single thing and people are talking about him being released.

And I am the one characterized as an "alarmist fool" for sharing the viewpoint of the beat reporter and one of top sportswriters in the country. Funny how things are viewed around here...

Vick isnt going anywhere. He has too many high priced lawyers with lack of evidence on their side. Remember you can only be convicted if the evidence is concrete. In other words the FEDS have no case.

Re: **UPDATE**: Vick Not Likely to Be Indicted Following Raid

This whole is starting to smell bad. Why are the Feds involved in the whole Vick thing? Isn't this usually a state matter and as such handled by local law enforcement?

It became a Federal matter when Federal Laws were broke, and when a Non Virginia resident became subject to a Virginia state investigation.

You gotta ask youself, "self, how many times have I had feds on my ass?" None...why? Cause I'm a good person. So why does Vick have feds on his ass? (cough cough)

You can only be convicted if the jury votes to convict you. People are found guilty on flimsy evidence every day. Of course, the difference here is that Vick can retain strong legal council and the government will have to have strong evidence against him in order to indict, which is the way it should always be , but isn't.

Also, any jury in that part of Virginia is likely to have at least one person who will vote to acquit Vick no matter what - because of football or race or a combination of things. If the government tried to bring a case against Vick it would have to be airtight. But, he is probably only actually guilty of attending the fights and gambling on them. His cousin is the one who will take the fall for the actual fighting which is the case that the government would like to make even though Micheal Vick is more famous. If they try to bring the dog fighting charges against Micheal Vick, they will be giving a reluctant jury an easy way out - "He just owned the house, He didn't own the dogs, etc". These are the kinds of considerations they are making. Prosecutors hate to lose and they really hate to lose when there are cameras around.
