Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Love Riggo the player and the personality but not the greatest analyst. I think that the D will be top 5 in yardage allowed but some of that is going to be bc of the short fields other teams will have to work with. I think a better indicator of improvement will be more TO's from the D.

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Wow I can't figure this site out. A guy comes along and predicts that we will be ranked around 28 and he is stupid, a di$%, should be fired, knows nothing about football, etc... . Then Riggins says we could be a top 5 team and people say the same thing about him.

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Riggo is the ultimate fan favorite. Won't matter what he says, unless it is outrageously politically incorrect, folks will eat it up. He is a real character, but people love a character like him and find him really entertaining. As for him not knowing much about the NFL, just look at some of the net sportswriters or Dr. Z. They say some of the dumbest things.

Beyond all the things JR did on the field, you could always be entertained by the his sound bites on the evening sports report. I truly miss listening to his whacko comments (right Sandy baby?) and always felt he lightened up the mood when needed. Riggo and Dexter Manley: Two undeniable characters and I wish we had more of 'em.

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
I always got the impression Riggo wasn't a big Danny fan, at least in terms of the owner's personel moves.
I try not to criticize predictions too much, just the logic or lack thereof. If Riggo is saying that our D & O have made improvements in the offseason, I'd agree. Whether they've made enough of an improvement to put us in the top 5 that's a bold call, but I can see it IF we stay healthy. Predictions are really tough in today's nfl. I remember in the 80s Dr. Z was right on w/a lot of his preseason super bowl picks. These are more volatile times in the nfl. If Brian Mitchell & Steve what's his name on comcast come out & say we're a playoff team, that will really be news. |

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Riggins will make his main prediction the Thursday before the opener on the season premiere of Redskins Report with George Michael on WRC TV 4, along with Wilbon and Sonny. They seem to usually all land between 8 - 8 and 10 - 6 somehow. I expect John will be in the 9 and 7 range.

He may not know about football. He may be a crappy radio host. But I hear he has a huge cock.

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Riggins is usually right on when it comes to his predictions. I can go back to when he predicted Steve Spurrier would fail. Then in the middle of Spurriers last season he predicted Spurrier would quite and go to North Carolina. Granted he wasn’t completely correct but he was very close. Last season he wasn’t very high on the Skins especially after the sloppy preseason.
As far as his radio show I live in Omaha, Nebraska and have never heard it so I can’t comment on it. I have heard him do football commentating on the radio and he is a lot better than most. If he was more politically correct he could be on Fox or ESPN but he says what he thinks and it upsets too many people. Just look at this discuss. |

I concur!
Hey, he could always follow the sheep saying that we are going to suck, or be lucky to be 8-8...he went out on a limb and if it works out, then he'll look like a genius, if it doesn't, no one will care.

Re: John Riggins prediction for the '07 season
Not saying I'm completely drinking the Kool Aid, but I will just point out that four of the teams you mention right here are in the AFC and I really don't think the Saints belong amongst the Top 5 teams in the NFL either. Just looking at the NFC there are not a whole lot of top flight teams out there ... is anyone convinced the Bears are the real deal as long as they have Grossman? The Saints won't sneak up on anyone this year, and if you didn't notice the Skins beat them at their place last season. The other teams in the NFC East will be tough, but they are not exactly world beaters ... All I'm saying is that it is clearly possible for the Skins to make a major move given the general lack of great teams in the conference. So let's amend Riggo's apparent statement (I don't get his show in SC obviously) and say the Skins will be a Top 5 team in the NFC. Hey, that gets you to the Playoffs and I think we could all live with that.
