I don't know what it is about everyone praising this kid; maybe its the fact that he went to Maryland.

Does anyone know whos man got free and almost ended Campbell's season before it even began...

The player of note was the Steelers RDE, and he was Heyer's responsibility to block on that particular play. He demonstrated a lackluster atempt at a block which could have been a true disaster. The kid has some potential, and could be good in time, but right now he scares the hell out of me. He has played well on ocasions, but it only takes one time (like saturday night) to make a rookie mistake and end the season for a QB that shows so much promise, and has worked so hard in the off-season.

Thank you. I think people have a tendency to get caught up in players progress. Everyone was talking about Whittaker a month ago and where is he now?

This guy is nobody as far as I'm concerned right now, other than a stand-in tackle who was almost responsible for the Redskins season going down the drain.

Really good rookie talent/depth. Nice catch, of course no CS, that goes without saying.

But could turn out to be a long term GREAT catch.

He's decent. He'll end up as an OK tackle.

Re: How Do U Feel About Stephen Heyer's Progress??

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm cautious because I have seen us fall in love with many UFAs simply because they show some ability (e.g., Garnell Wilds). I'm also cautious because we've seen him play in just two preseason games, he's had help from the TEs and backs, and we've still had trouble opening up lanes and have trouble in pass protection on the left side of the line.

I'm optimistic, however, because it is unusual to see a UFA rookie start at any position, let alone the most important one on the line. I'm also optimistic because I trust in Buges and doubt he would stick a UFA rookie at LT unless he thought the kid had some potential.

Heyer will be fine at what he'll spend the season doing...backing up Chris Samuels. He will be a good tackle one day, but he's got a ways to go. He's just a stopgap until Samuels trots back onto the field.

It goes to show you how Fabini has done...to have an undrafted rookie come in and start 2 games over a veteran. If Samuels is not ready for Game 1, the Skins better keep a TE on that side of the ball to help Heyer block.

For Christ's sake I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

Are we really talking about this guy?
