They call it catch %. 3-4 different QBs over those 3 seasons, and the numbers continue to be bad. At some point, we just have to blame Chambers. I don't think we are a whole lot better than Miami at this point, but we should win this game. |

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
Good teams win the games they are supposed to. I would think we are supposed to win this one. If we do not, it may well be a long season. Good early measurement of team quality

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
I think Miami will play hard. Unless Cameron is destined to be a terrible head coach a la Norvelle (which I could see), his troops should be on their best behavior for the new coach. He'll certainly have a lot of adrenaline running & if he's got any control of his team, they'll respond to it.
Like us, they have questions, but I think overall we have more stability & talent on both sides of the ball. Yes it's a game we should win, but I expect it to be tough. Home field gives us the edge if nothing else. Anyone know if there's a line on this yet? |

Bottome line, if we don't beat Miami, this is going to be a very long season. Period. They're not that good. Defensivley they are pretty good, but from top to bottom we should beat them. If we dont, my expectations (not that they are as high as they were last year), will plummet.... But as Daseal said...we should have beat Minnesota too. I'm pretty sure I wrote the same exact thing last year.

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
Right now the Skins are 3.5 point favorites I think. But that could/should change. I think being at home makes automatically gives Miami three points, so basically were half point favorites.

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
I really like our chances vs. the Fins. We should dominate them defensively. My question is in Wk. 1 should I start the Skins D in my fantsay or the Chargers?
As for the offense, I think Jason C. should be able to light up the back end of that defense. Also if we have a good day on the ground that day we should be pretty excited about it. Just my thoughts. Hail!!

The big difference between last year and this year, Jason Campbell is starting at OB and not Mark Brunell. Besides, the offense should be more in sync after two years of Al Saunders, and the defense has definitely improved. I feel really good about our chances this time around. |

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
Yeah, us being 3.5 point favorites at home means the oddsmakers think the two teams are pretty even.
In an opening day situation, I think more games are lost than are won. So, the redskins need to take care of the football, play disciplined, get pressure to force Miami into mistakes, win on special teams, and they should come out on top. I suspect Cameron will have some pretty good blitz-beating plays in the mix so we need the secondary to be sure and wrap up the receivers as soon as the ball is delivered. We struggled last year with letting hot receivers out of the gate for big plays (think Maurice Jones-Drew). We need individuals in the secondary to step up to the mic.

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
I actually predicted a lost to the Viks last year and about a 8-8 or 9-7 record. I thought we were overhyped, but I didnt expect to go 5-11. I think our D and run game will hold us agaisnt the Fins. I feel an 9-7 to and 11-5 potential this year, but I'm not overly optimistic.

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
Since it appears both teams have question marks, this one will probably come down to who turns it over more.
I'd agree the Skins and Dolphins are two very similar teams. For Miami, new coach, new quarterback (for their system), aging defense -- for us, question marks on both offensive and defensive lines, aging defense, but more time for our quarterback in the system. Looks like we have a slight edge, but then, I thought the same thing about Minnesota last year. Don't forget though, Gibbs is cursed in Monday Night Football season openers -- he's like 0-4 or something like that. This one is on Sunday, though. So that's a good thing. |

Re: Looking ahead to Miami
I see our defense absolutely killing the Dolphins' running game. Brown will go nowhere when you combine the shoddy state of their line with the recent play of our LBs and front 4 against the run.
When Miami does drop back to pass, I don't think Trent Green will find too many people open. I see Miami being held under 10 points. As for our offense, I think Campbell will face pressure from Jason Taylor's side of the ball. I think we'll have trouble running against the Dolphins because our line hasn't come together yet. I see a very defensive battle, with the difference being a big play or two from Campbell to Moss or Cooley. Lots of punts back and forth in a hard-fought game, but the Dolphin secondary gives up a big play or two. Redskins 13 Dolphins 10
