Re: Jags done with Leftwich
I guess I am the only one (other than jacksonville) that sees Leftwich for what he is...CRAP!
The man has never threw for over 3000 yards, nor over 15 tds. He was too highly touted out of Marshall and some people here compared him to Marino. I, of course, laughed at that, and I was right. Leftwich was overrated then, and he is likely still a little overrated. He is USELESS people! I'd rather have Palmer than Leftwich, it would not be wise to bring in this guy.

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
Wow, that's a shocker, espeically at this late stage. I don't think Garrard is any good but what do I know? He reminds me of Seneca Wallace of the Seachickens.

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
Leftwich isn't bad at all. I prefer my quarterbacks to be able to play a 16 game season - which Leftwich has never done, but to each his own.
We should get something straight though. No one is going to trade for Leftwich. He carries a $5.1 million base salary, and has practically no options for starting this year. Even if you have the cap space, Leftwich won't want to sign long-term (for fear he's being undervalued) and has no reason to sign a one year deal for lesser monies out of the goodness of his heart. If he's cut - which will definitely happen before opening day rosters are set (lest he be guaranteed his full salary as termination pay under the CBA) - then there are a number of teams where he'd have a better chance at playing than here. Minnesota's been mentioned, but how about Atlanta? Is Seattle a good fit? I know Byron went to high school in the district, but I don't think that's enough impetus (look it up) to be a guaranteed third stringer.

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
Leftwich is nothing but a mediocre starting QB in this league. He'll never be more than that. At this stage in his career, he is what he is. There's no upside to having him on the Redskins - we want Campbell to develop into a franchise QB and we don't want a guy like Leftwich steaming because he's backing up a young guy.
Let's all put on our thinking caps here, people. Just because a guy becomes available doesn't mean the Washington Redskins need to acquire him.

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
I think Leftwich will make a good backup for somebody, but I'm not sure it's in our best interests to have him here in D.C.

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
IMO Leftwich has always been overrated. The only thing that's good about him is he is big and stands tall in the pocket. He is not as mobile as people people think he is and he has just never really been able to get the job done. And why would we trade ARE for Reggie Williams? Whoever said that really must have little knowledge of Reggie Williams.

Garrard simply outplayed him over the past few years and the Jags seem to respond to his leadership more than Leftwich. |

Re: Jags done with Leftwich
I don't know about this move. Garrard had his chance last year and he didn't play all that well. I know he has had a great pre season but to just get rid of Leftwich is kind of crazy. IMO he still has value.
