Re: Mark"stinky"Schlerth needs to be jolly stomped
seriously, what do you expect, they win the division and we stink it up every year. in order to get respect in this league we have to win games plain and simple. jason campbell looking good in practice isnt going to convince anylists... ever. i dont mind that they predict us to do so bad every year, i just wish that they werent always right. |

I like Mark Schlereth. I think he's one of the best even if I don't agree with his take on the Skins. What was his reason for predicting the skins would finish last? He is usually pretty good about explaining the reasons behind his position.

Re: Mark"stinky"Schlerth needs to be jolly stomped
It is okay when the critisim is fair but this sounds uninformed.
If the d-line age and injuries were a problem then we have adressed that by getting younger and have youth in depth. The LB corp who missed so many takles has been overhauled with London Fletcher and Rocky McIntosh replacing the ineffective Marshell and Holdman and there is a new possition coach... S : right up untill the redskins called him at No6 Landry was touted as the best defensive player in the draft ...make of that what you will....but now Taylor can take up his true role of FS insted of having to play a hybrid role which should help him to stop thinking he has to rush into run support and get eaten by playfakes ...plus PP is back to spell as a starter if needs be . CB : The starters are the same but the nickle and dime back are much improved Yes we could have done more but not without blowing up the D and starting again ... |

Fox Sports' Schein just gave us a 5-11 nod also. What is the big deal guys? Most preseason rags have us finshing 3rd in our division at best. No biggie anyway. The Dolphins will be a good indicator on how the season will go.

Schlerth had art monk's back when he got nixed by the hall fame...called them a disgrace etc. Always liked him because of that so I couldnt care less about his predictions

Unfortunately you are right on with that one. The MSM shows no love for the Skins, but for the most part they are dead on, so until proven otherwise I don't see why we even bother bitching at all. Just cheer the Skins on and hope they stay healthy and surprise folks. We can be a very solid football team or just average. The defense alone isn't going to win games for us. Our D all around in 2005 was solid, this season we have no depth in the DB at all. If one guy goes down we might be screwed. |

As for the Eagles, I sincerely believe they are at the end of the line. Good coaches can stitch to gether a few wins with inferior players for a while, but not forever. As for McNabb, the fact that Jeff Garcia was able to perform better than him in the offense last year is indicative of how average he actually is. All the talk was of his brilliant resurgence and yet his completion percentage was 54% - the same as Campbell's. Also, Trotter going down any time in the last four years would be the best thing that could happen to a defense. He was a liability for them 75% of the time. They've had multiple opportunities to win the big games and they always fail because they aren't good enough. McNabb isn't good enough. When they crash, they will crash in a big way and I say it's this year.

The projections rate the Eagles passing game out really high, and I believe that will hurt them this year. That defense is no where near what it once was, and the passing game is easy to overrate. With that said, they are still the team to beat in the NFC and Westbrook is the best football player (at any position) in the NFC. We are not a better team than the Eagles right now. There is no question. Luckily for us, the crowned NFC East champion is not measured by the best team. It's measured by wins. So if we can get one more win than the guys up the road, we win the division. |

Westbrooke is fantastic. No argument there. In watching them a couple times this year, though, it is difficult for me to figure out how, J.J., as brilliant as he is, is going to be able to stop the run. I just don't see it. And I think a team that can't stop the run is a team that can't win. It seems like there would be one person in the press willing to go out on a limb and say, you know what the Eagles have lost something here. It's lame to say "But the Eagles have done this and that for so long." Then just show us last years standings. Don't pretend you're making a prediction when you're just recapping last year. It's a little too safe. Take the case of N.O. They're all behind the Saints this year. A year too late. I agree, the Saints are a good club, but we already know that. I want someone to tell me who this years Saints are. The fact is they have no idea. Just like they have no idea that the Eagles are going to lose this season. Also, I think Phillys YAC yards are high because of all the screens. Imagine Donovan's completion % if he were in an offense that isn't based almost entirely around screen passes.
