Re: Graphic FYI

• The football at the center has been redesigned to resemble the ball atop the Vince Lombardi championship trophy, says Baird. It replaces the old-fashioned pigskin nicknamed the "Hamburger" inside league offices.

Now all I see is the Hamburger.

Re: Graphic FYI

The football looks OK. The blue field looks empty, not enough stars now. The blocky letters look horrible. I like the swirly ones better. The new blue is fine, no complaints about the navy.

Re: Graphic FYI

I mean it isn't all that different, and it isn't too bad. So I guess the four stars represent the respective divisions? In the now previous logo, what did the stars represent?

Summo--interesting avatar--is that really the word you want?

"Furor":
a : furious or hectic activity b : an outburst of public excitement or indignation : UPROAR

"Führer":
(“Leader”), title used by Adolf Hitler to define his role of absolute authority in Germany's Third Reich (1933–45).

I suppose either would work, modulo the whole holocaust thing for the second one.

(Note: I'm Jewish. I have no problem with the second usage. I am also a liberal, left-wing academic who hates PC stuff. FREE SPEECH UBER ALLES!!! )
I used to use the term "Graphic Pimp" but "Pimp" is so over used these days that I wanted something different. So I did some research and I looked up the definition and decided that "furious or hectic activity, an outburst of public excitement or indignation: UPROAR" fits what I do, hence Furor. I did not select it to promote any anti-Semitic sentiments at all even though I did anticipate that someone might be offended.

Re: Graphic FYI

I like furor, it's about time someone took that name back from Hitler.

All we need now is someone to bring back the Hitler mustache and kill the mystique of it. Talk about ruined facial hair.

Re: Graphic FYI

It was Chaplin's mustache first! (he cut it off after Hitler...). (It will take a serious pimp to bring that back...)

I liked the Graphics Fuhrer--today the Warpath, tomorrow the world, and all that. But Furor works too. Keep up the "furious or hectic activity"!

(These days, people get offended by anything--even words close by to offensive words. As I said, the cure for that is more free speech--a furor of speech, preferably.)

Re: Graphic FYI

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the eight stars on the new logo represent the different division of the two conferences? NFC East, NFC West, NFC South, NFC North, AFC East, AFC West, AFC South, AFC North?

I'm thinking the old logo had stars with each representing an NFL team. Just what I thought though...I can be completely wrong.

Either way, it looks ok to me. It's not a huge change.

Re: Graphic FYI

If you read the article on USA Today it says that the 25 stars on the original represent nothing. They could find no reason for why the designers picked 25. I'm guessing that the original designer(s) wanted stars on it, and 25 just happened to fill out the space there well.

In my professional opinion, the new logo is MASSIVE improvement over the old one. They've kept the essence of the logo, keeping it just as recognizable and ubiquitous as the classic, while fixing all the problems with the old one.

Kudos, NFL. Kudos on the new website, too. Nice to see the NFL really getting their act together in both those departments.

Not to be harsh, but who reall gives a sh*t?!

They changed a few thingson the shield. i can see if its a total overhaul, then we'd have something to talk about, but as of right now people are just filling the air with BS until the season starts.

People who are into graphic design find this shit interesting. Let me ask you a question, what is the point of your response, to be an asshole? If it was, you succeeded.

Re: Graphic FYI

It looks good it’s still pretty much the same logo just cleaner. I never really gave it much thought before but all those stars do kind of muck it up. The “Hamburger” looks better too.
