Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
I heard somewhere Caldwell is sweet on the turn tables. He and B Lloyd can rock the mic together in the replay booth on the corner of the sidelines.

Pray-Low and Fox are both knicked. And we're playing a team that throws 40 times a game. I think they could axe Bodiford to make room for Caldwell and get help in the secondary with Jansen's. I don't see them keeping Jansen up the whole year so he can be available for the playoffs. If Wade/Heyer can't effectivley replace him they won't be in the playoffs anyway. If they can, he won't be needed. That's the way I see it.

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
He would be the perfect 3rd or 4th WR cause Lloyd just plain sucks. It's time to cut the cord with him and move on.

Releasing him any time before the end of this season would put us over the salary cap for this year, so we can't do that. Releasing him after the season ends, but before June 1, would cost us $3.0 million in 2008 cap space. Releasing him after June 1 would save us about $2.5 million of 2008 space, but we'd have to eat a dead cap charge of $5.3 million in 2009. They could always try to trade him like they did with Archuleta, and get a team to redo his deal and assume some signing bonus money for us. That'd keep our cap hit nice and low. But I can't see anyone wanting the bum! I've seen the Skins eat big charges before, so anything is possible, but I would call it very likely that we'll keep him through 2008 at minimum.

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
I don't know what the cap hit is if we kick Lloyd out, but for now I'm all in favor of Thrash being the #3, Caldwell being the #4 and Lloyd being the #5. I say bring him in, he has to better than Shaun Bodiford.

Can boot him next year, but it would cost us dearly. See my previous post for details.

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
I'm OK with this as long as he doesn't set foot on the field as a redskin. Lloyd is way better, at least he will catch it, if it is thrown to him. Caldwell dropped how many in last years AFC title game?

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
His drops don't bother me. Santana had his drops last year.
He was the best receiver on their team last year so I'm down.

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
If Jansen goes onto the IR, do we then get his cap space back for this year. And if we get his cap space back, is it enought to eat the penalty for cutting Lloyd? Then sign Caldwell to replace that WR, and we would still have one roster spot available.

Re: JLC: Reche Caldwell is in the Building
J-La has updated his blog to say that Caldwell signing looks very likely and that the Redskins also looked at two O-Linemen and a TE today. Alas no help for the secondary apparently:

Caldwell Signs 1 Year Deal - Redskins Insider
JLC says Caldwell signed a 1 year deal. Should be practicing with the team by Thursday.
