Re: Concerns about next sunday..

We are on a short week, so I can definitely understand the concern about coming out flat. It will take some mind over matter. If players don't consciously get themselves a little extra amped up, then the body's just not going to bounce back on 6 days rest quite as well.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

I just hope that in the short week, the O line can get comfortable, and the coaching staff can get comfortable with them.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

I am concerned because the past 4 seasons, we seem to hit a wall when playing the Giants on the first occasion. So hopefully that will change.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I'm worried that Carlos Rodgers is going to get sat on by Jared Lorenzen on a "roll"out.

I agree. He's still not completely healthy and we should blitz and pound him...send him to the showers before his next MRI.

We should take turns blitzing with Taylor or Landry along with Rocky and London. Eli wouldn't have a chance.

Heck, come out in a nickel and send Smoot in too.

So this is the first real threat we've faced through the air.

Coming out flat is a legit concern -- it pains me to say it, but ... it's happened a few times under Gibbs II. This team better not have completely spent their intensity after Monday night's win at Philly.

That, and the Giants always seem to find a spark against us at least once a year. We can thank our lucky stars that we won't have Tiki Barber to deal with anymore. That alone helps our case considerably.
An elderly Trent Green and a less than 100% Donovan McNabb aren't exactly total pushovers, but this should be the toughest test our secondary has had yet, I agree. Just because the Giants don't have a go to guy in the offensive backfield doesn't mean our run defense can take the day off either.

In the first two games our offense (mostly passing game; the run game is what it is) has been incredibly promising, but ultimately not good. Undoubtably that promise will turn to production sometime soon. That soon better come now, or we could get upset this week.

If we are going to get deep in the playoffs, we are going to have to do it on Campbell's right arm. He certainly isn't going it alone here, but when the dust clears, we will have an average rushing attack, and an average run stopping defense. How well we throw the ball and prevent others from throwing it is going to determine who wins the NFC (I'm not kidding).

This week, if nothing else, will challenge our ability to do both. Campbell needs a big day.

All teams have games where they come out flat and its what you do after the flat start which is what seperates the good teams from the bad.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

Burress has a sore ankle. I suspect GW will have the cb's hit him off the line, make him work, which he doesn't like to do anyway.

AP always gets their D excited to play us, so we definitely need to be on our game. I see them stuffing the box early, JC will have to hit Moss et al to keep em honest.

People are hard on Eli but I think he's pretty good, he just plays on a dysfunctional team. Their O line is much better so far than I thought.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

the $9 beer thing is great! that can get costly at Fed X.

My concern(s) : overlooking the G men. the can put points up and is really our first test against some offensive weapons. Shockey gives us fits, hopefully we can keep him in check. I do think we need to put pressure on Manning and hit him, not necessarily sacks, just hit him and hit him often. test that injured shoulder. I think we will stop the run, although the ward guy can be the kind of guy that gives us trouble.

Offensively, we need to run the ball and run at them all day long. if we can get the LB's and safeties to crowd the line, then Cooley should have a nice day across the middle and Moss deep. I would like to see B Lloyd break out, and this could be his game if he gets in.

We sometimes seem to let down in games like this (2005 for example) We need to be pumped and punch these bitches in the mouth and take the fight out of them early!! with them being 0-2, if we jump out early we should take their heart out of it early.

A game plan too conservative to keep up with the Giants offense which will put up some points
Carlos Rogers.
I loved the game plan last week. They threw down field and tried to score more than 10 pts. However, let's not forget the Giants secondary is horrible, let's mix it up pretty good. Don't be over conservative.

Oh yeah, i always worry about Rogers, although he had a great game last week against the Eagles big time recievers....uh...what's their names again. This week will be a test for him.

Strahan against Todd Wade - that concerns me. Hopefully Gibbs will use Yoder to chip on Strahan to take the load off Wade.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

Playing a divison rival is always a concern no matter what the record. The G-men are a wounded team desperate for a win, therefore they can't be overlooked or taken lightly. I'll be concerned about this one until 00.00 show on the 4th qtr. clock. It would be a mistake to asume this is an automatic win.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

Im not really concerned about too much in this game I am however really looking forward to the deep balls that are gonna be thrown on both sides of the ball... NY is gonna have to try deep shots bc. we are gonna stuff their run game w/ the way our LB's have played, i REALLY want to see how ST does now that we are playing against someone with some deep threat WR's it his first real opportunity to play center feild and make some plays deep. Im also looking to see which one of our WR's is gonna go off on the weak secondary the giants have and what kinda deep balls JC is gonna throw after missing moss on that one on Monday

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

Carlos Rogers vs. Anyone.

I think the only thing the Giants have going for them right now is the passing game. Eli can hurl that ball when he wants to, and Buress, Toomer and Shockey can be very problematic.

Coral the passing game and we've got this one licked.

Re: Concerns about next sunday..

This game has all the ingredients for an upset.

In fact it is scarily similar to the Bengals @ Browns game.

The Bengals were coming off a huge divisional win on Monday, so are we.

The Browns were coming off a humiliating home defeat, so are the Giants.

I'm worried.
