16.5 may seem high but like somebody said they have covered every single spread this year. They were 16.5 on the road against Miami. I know it's Miami but I don't think I have ever seen a home team in the NFL get 16.5.

You can count on them scoring around 28 to 31 points and the oddsmakers look at us scoring around 13 or 14.

I actually see this spread going up. If Smoot and Rogers are too hurt to practice and Springs is still coping with family problems then the line could hit 20.
I hope Gibbs puts that line on every door into the practice facility. As a player on a 4-2 team you gotta be pissed to see what the oddsmakers think of you.

good point, hadn't thought of that though I read that both say they will play, no update on springs' dad yet.

We need all of them to match up w/their wr's. They haven't faced a secondary as tough as ours. The bigger concern w/our D is the pass rush. Their o-line has been awesome this year. We likely can't get much pressure w/just 4.

What is the over under line?

Huge upset, highly unlikely.

Close hard fought our guts out win, that seems more likely. I would say Skins by 3, 24 - 21

16 1/2 is not excessive. I've NEVER in my life bet against the Skins, (once won about $300 in a pool because I took the Skins over Rams, when they were the Greatest Show on Turf, and no one else did) but if I had to bet this game I'd parlay NE & the Over.

Re: Early Line for Wash/NE Game

My guess is the odds makers have it about right. They figure the Pats are good for 30 and the Skins are good for about 14. The 1/2 is thrown in there to mess everyone up.

The bottom line is the Patriots will not score less than 4 TDs at home. The Skins have to find a way to intercept Brady (very hard this year) or create some turnovers to have a chance. THEN the Offense has to do something with those turnovers and score 4 or more TDs itself.

Re: Early Line for Wash/NE Game

They haven't played any good pass Ds yet, even Dallas is a middle-of-the-league (ranked #15 in pass D) and aren't very good.

We have dropped from #3 last week to #5 in D, but still have the #1 D in the NFC.

If anyone has a chance against them (before the Colts), it's us.

But, Coach Gibbs...

pats have had 16.5 spreads for the past 5 weeks with the exception of dallas and that was 5.5

And being the number 1 D in the junior conference isnt saying much now is it

So, the 4-2 Washington Redskins are equivalent to the 0-7 Dolphins?

The Patriots have played ONE team with a winning record.

Again, please don't confuse these statements with a belief that we are going to roll up on the Pats. If I were a betting man, I'd hit NE. I just think that number is pretty stunning, and says quite a bit about the confidence the gambling community has in New England.

I think it has more to do with 23pt win avg.

Bottom line this game means nothing more for skins than bragging rights and to make fans feel good about their team, but it will probably have no impact on nfc standings. Except maybe for common opponents if it gets that far

I think it is pretty unlikely the Redskins will score more than 24-27 points against the Pats, but I don't think you are giving our defense the respect it has earned. Every team that goes against us says, after the game, that our defense was the best they'd faced. They are causing a lot of turnovers, allowing few points, hitting pretty damn hard, and are allowing the fewest yards per play in the entire NFL. I have a lot of respect for your offense and suspect that it will score a lot of points, but I don't think you're paying close attention to what our defense can do.

Sheriff I have a lot of respect for the skins secondary, but the D cant be on the field for 60 min. unless the offense starts moving the ball the pats are gonna end up with 80+ offensive plays
