Re: F... Deer
I had zero reaction time. I just remember saying, "Oh God no!!!!" Then I closed my eyes. It was a good thing too because when that glass went flying, it went all over me and I got a good bit in my mouth. That was because of all the girlie screaming I was doing. I'd hate to think about all that glass getting in my eyes too.

You want to know what really pisses me off about the whole thing? Yesterday was the first time I've left work late in a long time. If I had left on time this wouldn't have happened. Why did I leave work late you ask? I was hanging out around our booking area arguing with the shift sergeant who is... a cowboys fan. |

Re: F... Deer
Sorry to hear about it LB...
SS, 7th grade, were you still in Potomac? I bet those deer own your old house by now, and their kids get on that same school bus... I was driving to work in my beat up 01 Civic, with a headlamp out. Ahead, I see the first run go back, so I slowed down knowing damn well these things travel in packs. Sure enough, the 2nd one jumps out and I smack it with the right front part of the bumper. The deer kinda goes sideways for a second, then hits the ground running. No damage, but the headlamp that had been out for several weeks came back on and worked for several more weeks before burning out again. Oh, and yes...Deer is good eatin'.

Re: F... Deer
Sorry to hear about your car. The good news is that hitting an animal is covered by your comprehensive coverage which usually has a smaller deductible and will not effect your rates. Well thats how it works in Va. Its not the deers fault as we have run roads through their homes and developed around them pushing them into smaller areas. No I'm not Mr PETA but the deer are doing what they do. This is the worst time of the year as they are breeding and the hunters stire them up.

Re: F... Deer
This is a hiliarious thread, only because I heard almost the same exact thing from Daryl Hall (hall and oats) on stern this morning on the way to work. He got lime disease from a deer tick which has effected his life, he no longer goes in the woods. He went off on a tyraid about killing all the deer. It had me rolling, he also mentioned all the car accidents due to the over population of deer.

Re: F... Deer
This happened to me a few months ago. My car has a nice, freshly-painted front end and hood.
Don't worry, LB, that'll buff right out. |

Re: F... Deer
That leads me to this question for you auto body/car guys out there. Looking at that amount of damage what do you think will have to be done to the car as far as repairs go? Obviously most everything will have to be replaced, but I'm concerned about the framing and such.

I came in close encounters with deer in Rock Creek Park (anyone from the Metro area knows this is where Deer love to hang out and smash up your car). But I haven't hit one yet. But wow, an 08 Honda LB? I saw one of those at the dealership and I nearly attached myself to the hood. I want one SO bad. What a bummer, Lady. Insurance is going to cover it? (I kinda skimmed, so if you mentioned it, I'm sorry I missed it). Glad you're okay btw, I know more people get killed by deer every year than like.. bear attacks and shit. :P

Re: F... Deer
Sorry to hear about that LB. That's some scary shit.
I was involved in a similar incident not too long ago. My cousin was driving the back roads of Montgomery County, MD (Rt. 28 to be specific) and we were all just kind of hanging back. All of a sudden.. BAM...we nailed the thing and then swerved into a ditch. I got out and walked up to the lifeless deer, and figured it was dead. A few moments later... it lifted up it's head. I kind of freaked... because I didn't want some suffering deer just laying there so I decided to look for something to take care of it. After searching for about five minutes the deer stood up and just stared at me. I literally walked right up to it and asked it to leave. I think I just started yelling "Go... like... out.. into the woods or something. you can't stand in the road confused". The deer sort of drunkenly stumbled around and eventually took off. Similar damage done to the car. I think his head hit the drivers side window. My cousin swears he made eye contact with the deer for half a second. Weird shit.
