ok, well my bad i was assuming you were. I do agree though that for every homer there is a hater. I just think that the haters get slammed more for being a hater than for what they are actually posting.

For three hours every Sunday I like to get away from the realities of the world (job deadlines, family issues, financial concerns, etc.) and just root for my team. They let me down plenty, but they also have brought me tremendous joy for over two decades.

But heaven forbid I should ever feel good about a single damn thing the Redskins do because there will always be some other fellow Redskins fan to piss all over my joy. I hated that we lost today, but I loved (save for the two INTs) the way our offense moved in the second half and the way our Defense absolutely dominated.
For real. I expect to hear it from my friends that are Cowboys fans and because they're Cowboys fans and don't know any better, I can accept that.

But I come here to commiserate with my fellow fans, not have them shit on the team too.

Get real.....

Its interesting how riled up the kool aid drinkers get when you mention that name "kool aid". Its an automatic "get three shitty responses" post. On top of that i think in the last 3 weeks ive been called a douche bag about 10 times, each time by a kool aid drinker. Let me know when im wrong about this team going nowhere with Gibbs at the helm, let me know when its going to get better.
Do you think we will beat Buffalo?

Yes or no?

This whole thing is really getting stupid and needs to come to an end. Like I said in another thread I think the majority of people here fall in the middle. There are a few extremists on either side, but for the most part people fall somewhere in between.

I think the extremists need to go and we may need to start doing something about it soon before they wreck this entire board.

I understand.

It's not a sure thing, just as the Pats over Eagles wasn't a sure thing. I also happen to think we will win that game and be back at 6-6 and tied for the 6th seed.

6-6. Holding a Wild Card spot after 13 weeks.

If we beat the Buffalo Bills. This season is not over. THAT is realism. Nothing else needs to be said to this. We take care of our business against teams FAR worse than the Tampa team we played today, we take a wild card.

Don't ever disagree with the snide, arrogant hater-aid drinkers, or you will be blasted for being an ignorant fool.
I totally disagree that we overvalue continuity. Constant change has been the hallmark of the Snyder tenure as owner. One could argue that bringing in Saunders, along with a slew of free agents, and trading 4 mid-level draft picks for Lloyd and Duckett in 2006 was an example of this team undervaluing continuity.

Both the homers and the realists are fans. The only difference is that the homers pretty much ignore systemic trends that have led to the Skins being a mediocre organization. The realists want the Skins to win just as badly as the homers, the only difference is that the realists acknowledge the team's shortcomings.

I think SGG was being sarcastic.

Yeah, my sarcasm meter must have been turned off after another bitter loss.

Re: What is a Fan / Homer / Realist

I think anyone who is passionate about a team is a fan. What's funny to me is that I've been called a hater, a kool aid drinker, a realist, and an eternal optimist. Sometimes all in one day.
I do think that some changes must be made, but not wholesale. We are 1-1 in blowouts and 4-5 in games decided by 8 or less. 2-1 in games decided by 3 or less. Parity is ruling the NFL now (save for the Patriots who might have to play the X-Men to lose). A team under .500 might win the AFC West. The 5-6 Vikings destroyed the 7-4 Giants and last week the Jets beat the Steelers. This team won't be 19-0 anytime soon.
Will the Giants win another game this year? How about the Lions? I think the Cards (who lost to the 49ers) have a better shot than the Giants.
When the mathameticians tell me that there is no shot I look to next year. As George Micheal sang, "You gotta have faith." As far as the complaining goes, I'll take a "we suck" over any negative comment from someone else. By brother can call my mom fat but nobody else can, regardless of the truth.
So what does this make me? Yes, I am still hoping for the playoffs. If they make it I will be cheering wildly though I personally feel that we'll be seeing another Packer vs Patriot SuperBowl. Am I a Kool Aid drinker because I recognize the chance to make the playoffs still? Or a "realist" because I think this season is pointless and we should just crown the Patriots ass?
