Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
There are unfortunately special circumstances here which should be considered when evaluating whether Taylor deserves to have his number retired. Also, for those that oppose the idea would you really be offended if he did have his number retired before Monk, Green, et al?

There is more than one person who feels that ALOT of past skins deserve this honor. I think it is more appropriate that it be unofficially retired as they have done with alot of the greats of the past.

Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
I disagree with just about everything Irish post but this is a Redskin chat site and he stated his opinion which other people hold. I'm not sure what they should do with his number at this point but if they did retire his jersey because of what happened I have no complaints. It not fair to jump on every person who does not agree with everyway people have posted to honor Sean Taylor.

Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
I signed, normally I would be reluctant, but due to his potential impact on the team's legacy and his recent turn towards improving his off the field life, I felt honored to reccomend the retirement.

You're right, but before I responded I went and looked through his posts and I just felt there was an antagonistic air to alot of them in the last couple of days, and took offense. Sorry for jumping on you Irish... you're as entitled as anyone to express opinons freely, and I'm a bit of an ass for trying to stop you... My personal opinion is that he was great from the moment he suited up in that first hall of fame game and impacted this team more than any other player in over a decade, and his career is complete. It may not be long enough for you, but it is a complete body of work, so when you say he MAY have had a great career, it feels like you're penalizing his work for his death, just as you seem to feel we're over glorifying his work because of his death. I do agree that there are many other redskins that deserve the honor, but Right now I cant imagine going after a signature overprice free agent a la dieon and having him don the jersey...

Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
Keep in mind this is just a petition that someone created out of respect for ST's untimely death. As hard as it for any player to get their number retired, it is unlikely that his unfortunate short lived career will amount to enough to have it officially retired. It's just the thought of showing some love for an incredible player that could have and should have gone on to do even greater things for the Redskins.

Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
701 , would be nice to see 100,000 by Christmas . I caught some interviews with his teachers at the prep school he attended , he graduated with honors . I was also very impressed with C. Portis on his thoughts about wearing the # 21 . RIP Sean Taylor .

Re: Sean Taylor Retired Number Petition
What I really admire are the fans of other NFL teams [even Cowboys fans] that signed this petition and left heartfelt comments about Sean... that just shows that Sean was remarkable and deserves to be honored even though his career was short lived.
