Re: Mario Williams

Yeah, people owe him an apology. I've never been on the Reggie Bush bandwagon, but I thought VY was their man. I think I was wrong, Mario looks great and Im still not sold that VY will develop to a top tier QB. He scrambles a lot right now, and he may prove me wrong, he's still young. Either way, if the Texans got a pro-bowl caliber player AT ANY POSITION, they did fine in the draft.

I think he would, he's not that old for GM standards. I hope Dan and Charlie consider it.

Re: Mario Williams

I did think Williams was working on being a bust, but he has really showed up this year. He looked amazingly strong yesterday and struck me as a Reggie White type now. He could be around for a long time.

ps- I always knew Bush and VY were overrated, but thought Williams was too. I was wrong about Williams.

Unfortunately, I drafted VY in my fantasy league. Wrong move, in hindsight. Someone else is right-on about R. Bush being a WR/RB hybrid, and not worthy of being a legit #1 RB. Mario must be good if he has all those sacks. Wouldn't mind a 13 1/2 sack Pro-Bowler caliber DE for the B&G, would you? C. Casserly won't come back to work for LDS no time, no how, no way.

Re: Mario Williams

Yeah, someone here called Bush a luxury back. I thought that was an interesting term.

Re: Mario Williams

I hope not, but I could see next year this thing coming back around. Vince will have the Madden Curse off of his shoulders, and once the Saints get healthy Reggie will be able to play the role that made him so great last year.

Holding my judgment a little longer.

And I would be for a Charlie and Dan reunion.

Re: Mario Williams

I thought Vince was gonna be a bust when they drafted him....I couldnt believe it. Then in his rookie season he made me feel like a dumbass. Now, he's disproving what he did last year. I guess he's still on the fence.

Re: Mario Williams

Someone who is good at using the search feature should dig up some of my April 06 posts regarding the Texans draft. I know what I felt about the Mario Williams pick, but for fear of being deemed insane, I can't remember if I posted my thoughts on this board.

Honestly, it's like a majority of the media goes out looking for new ways to be wrong. A DE will always be more valuable than a RB of equal skill, and the only reason that I thought the Texans might have made a mistake is because people in the media made Reggie Bush seem like this Gale Sayers type athlete.

I don't know where they got that from, because he just hasn't shown me anything at this level yet.

Re: Mario Williams

I think the moral of the story is that the media - and us as well - shouldn't go calling people busts after 8 games. Braylon Edwards is another guy people were calling a bust prematurely, and look at him now.

lol. I called Jamarcus Russell a bust before the draft.

You are 100% right. The perception in the media is that once you see a guy take his first snap, you'll have a pretty good idea of how he will pan out.

If you went into a year without any information on a guy, you aren't going to be able to draw any accurate conclusions 8 games later. Just not enough info.

Re: Mario Williams

I wouldnt judge any of them yet,its way too early, just as mario was hurt last yr bush's knee has been bothering him for more games than we knew about,so you cant fault bush for this yr.Mario was sucking up to the 3rd or 4th game this yr,texans fans were on his ass big time,I dont think he had hardly any tackles during preseason if I remember correctly.Being a skins fan first and a texans fan 2nd and a longhorn fan I still wish they would have drafted Vince,to me it was a no brainer,Carr sucked and the only people who couldnt see that were the frickin texans{Casserly}Carr will probably be out of football after this yr.As for Casserly,no frickin way I want him back here,I've seen too many bad moves with the texans. We need a gm,the only way i would want casserly is if thats the only people snyder and gibbs would work with because of past history, but if the job is open to other people I would rather someone else have the job

Even though VY was the hometown boy, wouldn't the Texans have been better off with Leinart or Cutler than Young or Bush?

I think they got their DE in that draft, AND they got their QB by trade.

Re: Mario Williams

Here is the original 2006 draft thread about this.
http://www.redskinswarpath.com/locke...-williams.html

I know I said they shouldn't take Bush, but I also said that I didn't know if Williams was going to be the answer either.

Too bad Marty also drafted Rod Gardner (ahead of Steve Hutchinson and Santana Moss) in the 1st round. Well at least he selected Smoot in the 2nd round.

As for Mario Williams, I'm really happy for the kid after all the abuse he took in the press for the sin of being picked 1st.
