Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Stopping the run and forcing Tavaris to make plays was key. The D line gets my vote.

I really loved how Portis is coming alive. The D was important but i gave Clinton my vote.

I don't know, the Skins were covering that area particularly well...I saw quite a number of times where one of our LB or safety squatted close to the line between the DE and the DT. Great calls by GW all night long.

Just for his inner fire and savvy experience, no one else could have done what he's doing. When our backs are against the wall and all experts pick the other teams, Joe proves everyone wrong. |

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I gotta go defense, with Portis a very close second...The two things I thought we would really struggle with tonight were stopping the run, and rushing the football...We did a great job of each. I cant really find a "bad" spot. I was getting nervous until that challenge fiasco, but a very good game start to finish.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Credit the coaches for their best coached game since the Dallas game at FedEx in 2005, and the players for executing the plan to perfection. Gregg Williams dialed up a lot of looks that I've never seen him do here (5-3 fronts, 4-4 fronts). He really took Peterson out of the game and put it in the young QB's hands.

Tough one, but I voted Portis for his overall great play. Plus, he's the emotional leader of the team.
Collins and the defense were outstanding, too. |

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Entire defense. All day long, the Vikings were only able to manage three decent drives. It just so happens that they put up seven each time, but that's a function of luck. When a defense forces as many turnovers as it gives up quality drives, that's game ball material.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
i didnt vote because i want to say the coaches, but the game of football is all about execution. i dont think our coaching staff all of a sudden got "smarter"

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I went with the Defense. They set the tone early and pretty much controlled the game.
Key guys who stepped up: Smoot, Godfrey, Fletcher, and the entire d-line. |

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
Yup. I love what Portis did against the best run defense in the league, how our D played lights out against the best running offense in the league, and the coaches' game plan, but 22/28 for about 250 yards and 2 TDs and 0 INTs is about as flawless as they come.

Re: Redskins 32 Vikings 21: game ball time
I voted Run D but i would like to add that it's not just for the players. Agreed, our defense played LIGHTS OUT for about 50 minutes of 60 that game but it just seemed to me like the scheme we were running was fantastic. The coaching this week up until the game HAD to be awesome. They stacked the hell outta the box with 8 people every down and dare them to throw the ball. Then you factor in the CB play of Springs and Smoot, and there you have it. Excellent planning and preparing and excellent execution.
Game ball to the D and D coaches. Awesome game. Hail.
