He doesn't provide an explanation for the second Meeks interview. I wonder if he's just not acknowledging Meeks as a valid candidate or if he knows something else.

I read your post in another thread expressing your confident belief in Fassel being our next HC. You could very well be right, but Ron Meeks would be a great choice whether he gets the position or not.

I don't disagree, I'm not a Fassel supporter. You don't assemble a staff and tell a potential coaching candidate, "here's the staff we built for you", now go get 'em!! That's what I'm getting at.

Why would Meeks be a good HC? I know that Indy's D isn't that bad but what else about him makes people think that he can be a HC? Just curious I really don't know a lot about the guy.

Ok after looking up meeks on the Colts official web site I'm for him. He used to be a Skins coach. Sorta promoting with in except we let him get seasoned first.

Exactly!! End result was Wade Phillips, ours is fassel (RETREADS). I don't think any young up and coming coach whether it's Meeks, Spagnuolo, Ryan, Schwartz is going to agree with this type of situation.

Dallas had a great season under Phillips. And, I do believe a young upcoming coach would agree to the situation because it makes it easier on them. They don't have to round up a coaching staff, one is already set in place. If the coaching staff isn't working, of course the guy can make a change, but if I was an assistant coach in the NFL and was given the opportunity to become a first time head coach, I'd love to know that there was a coaching staff set in place.

I don't know about the rest of the coaches, but Joe Gibbs already had Richie Petitbone set to run the defense when he first became HC.

Didn't the Dolphins hire a few coaches this year (though not the coordinators) before hiring Sparano as head coach?
