On top of that you have a guy in Jim Zorn (a quarterback in his playing days) who has spent the last 7 years molding Matt Hasselbeck into the All-Pro quarterback that he is today, as well as helping Seneca Wallace along. So I wouldn't say it's the wrong offense for Campbell. And while he'll have some growing pains learning the new offense, I think he'll grasp it just fine and will be able to lead the team on the field this year.

That will be interesting to watch, we don't know how west coast this O will be, there are always varying degrees from team to team. Seattle runs it but it seems they have a number of deep & intermediate routes mixed into their pass plays & they also do a bit of power running, which doesn't seem much different in the west coast o than in any other.

Re: Is it really that Bad?
i'm not saying it's a guaranteed loser, but switching offenses like that is a huge gamble (though our super conservative O wasn't exactly lighting fires).
the college WCO is a lot different than it is in the NFL. There's a LOT more room for error, and he had better talent vs the competition in a lot of games there. that said, even if it does work out, i doubt it's going to run 100% smoothly the first year, so we are probably looking at a setback in the short term (unless campbell just gets it or zorn is an amazing teacher). At best it's a huge question mark though. |
