I must know all the dick cops then. I am not a fan of cops if you can't tell. I simply don't understand why many find it so hard to treat peoplw with respect. I actually think they'd get better results that. All the yelling and power tripping I have seen just makes things worse.

I can tell great stories of over zealous cops but I am betting a lot of us have similar stories.

Does anyone know how long ago this happened? I hope it was on local news channels so the community could see how there police officers where acting. That Cop really needs to check himself. The kid didn’t do anything the pig was just being a complete dickhead!

I've had interactions with good cops and bad cops. They do get an unfair rep at times and the truth is whenever they cross the line it gets broadcasted all over the media and we don't get to see the other side often enough.

I think if he wasn't being such a hysterical douche, I wouldn't have found myself wanting to kick him in the nuts. Also assaulting that kid wasn't cool. The kids were just skate boaring it wasn't like they were shooting up in the middle of the harbor.

All I can thinking about is "what if they were Black kids". The night sticks would've been out!

I agree. Most of the cops I've dealt with have been very professional. If you respect them you usually get the same in return. It's sad that there good work goes unreported 99% of the time. Where as if they mess up the public hears about it probably about 75% of the time. But that's just thanks to the way are media priorities the stories they air.

I must say I usually support law enforcement but the guy on that video was a .

Wow, the cop was being a complete dick...but wtf is wrong with these kids? The cop asked him not to ride the board and to sit down and the kid was talking smack. I would have put my "foot in his ass". No respect from kids these days.

I am not condoning the cops actions, but this is a MUCH bigger issue than the cop here! Skater boi needs his fuggin ass kicked!

The kid was 14, he didn't know any better. Kids don't listen at that age. It wasn't that long ago when I was 14 and as a 14 year old girl, I know how the boys were at that age. (Idiots).

There are an awful lot of good cops who genuinely want to help people and do their jobs to the best of their abilities. But, I've also met enough cops who clearly abuse their position of authority, are less than ethical, and are frankly stupid. Those two videos show the latter type.

What exactly did he do? He used the word "dude," so he should get a foot in his ass? He wasn't talking back at all. That cop is the type of guy who takes out his inadequacies and personal failures on his children and pets.

Remember, police officers are public servants. Provided you aren't doing anything illegal, they should be going out of their way to be polite to us. They should be referring to us as "Mam" and "Sir" and shouldn't threaten people because they are calling them "dude" or anything else. if you are doing something illegal, the police should go by the book and not abuse their authority because they feel disrespected. Is it so much to ask that police officers act in accordance with the law and not use their badges to intimidate?

I'm gonna guess this must have happened over the weekend (it's rainy and shitty here now). I just happened to have the TV on MSNBC and they just aired the video.

So I suppose as of today, it is public knowledge.

Actually, I think the incident happened last summer but has just recently been aired for what ever reason.

See to me, I was brought up by my parents to not call a cop Dude or anything other than yes sir officer or yes sir. This type of respect for ANYONE, let alone a public servant is just not evident with the current generation of young ones.

Look, I got in alot of trouble as a kid but I paid the price and got my ass kicked by my parents. By the time I was 13-14, I learned respect, especially when confronted by any type of authority.

Again I should point out that the cop was an ass and I do not condone his behavior at all. However, the kid should have sat on the curb when asked to do so even if he didn't think he did anything wrong and none of this would have happened. As the case in many YOUTUBE vids like this one, there is probably another side of the story we are not seeing. Probably one that could be speculated is there is a no skate sign down on the Harbor? Maybe he had run into these kids previous?

I've been there a few times and I've never seen one, although there could be one.

But still nowadays, that whole sir and ma'am thing isn't stressed anymore. I never call anyone sir and ma'am and I'm 21 and would feel weird doing so. Hell at my high school we called teachers by their first names. I think parents stress that kids should listen to their elders and people in authority but boys will be boys. I can't say I ever knew a 14 year old boy that liked taking orders from someone else other than their parents and they'd bitch about that too.

The times they are a'changin.

It is called civility and I know a lot of cops who don't have it.

I would argue that the statement that 75% of the "bad" stuff they do we find out about is totally inaccurate. I could share 5 stories right now of things similar to the above that went on and no one ever heard about them. One of which a judge ended up admonishing a pair officers for their behavior and they were eventually fired. But it was never a media story at all. Cops I have dealt with in both social and police situations have had a sense of superiority in almost every case. It allows them to deal with thugs and low lifes but most can't just turn it off when joe blow speeder doesn't kiss their ass. Or in this case a 14 year old kid acts like a 14 year old kid.

There could have been some inaudible stuff the kid said but based on the reactions of the cop he got mad simply becasue he called him "dude". You gotta be kidding.

I do know a couple cops who are awesome people but they are the exception by far.
