Re: Zorn wants Collins back
I absolutely love Brunell, and have since he was at Jacksonville but one must wonder- how can we benefit from him now? IMO it would be better to let him go out and be a backup somewhere he is needed and bring in Dilfer as a #3. Collins has alot of knowledge as far as mechanics go and Dilfer knows the WCO. Given those two attributes plus a former QB coach running the team I see nothing but greatness for JC this year!!!

Re: Zorn wants Collins back
No no no....we need Collins gone. The last thing we need is Campbell constantly looking over his shoulder.

If Cambell's psyche is that fragile he may want to think about another career. In this league you need 2 good QB's at least.

Why in the world would you want to see one hell of a solid backup, that even turned into a really good starter for us last season, not here? This is the business of football at the highest level you HAVE to have proven depth at your QB position I would argue this is the most important backup role more than any other position on the team. I think we found that out in the last four games of last season. Its not a luxury it's a necessity.

Re: Zorn wants Collins back
I would suggest that perhaps Zorn doesn't especially want Collins back with the team. Even the staunchest defenders of Collins would say that he is a system guy, and we are going to a new system.
Zorn probably realizes that there are a number of fans who love what Collins did for this team last year, and if he makes no effort to re-sign Todd, he will be excoriated by the fans and pundits. So he says he wants him here, but makes no strong effort to keep him. That way it's a financial issue, and he can't be raked over the coals.

Then why not just give Dilfer a coaching role?

Re: Zorn wants Collins back
Not really.. A coach can only do so much, especially a head coach.. A veteran QB, mentor if you will, can spend time after practice or film time during camp or just an extra ear on the sidelines to talk thru things.. A head coach has so many other responsibilities he's got to handle and there are only so many hours he can dedicate to one player.

Re: Zorn wants Collins back
Will Collins be as effective in another offense as he was Al Saunders? I'm for holding on to him or Brunell but not both and perhaps drafting a late round QB.
