Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?

I went with Lloyd because when Mike Espy, an undrafted FA got hurt in the preseason, many of us rolled our eyes and said "looks like the guy we spent a ton of money and two draft picks on will have to fill Espy's place."

Arch might have sucked but at least it seemed like he was trying most of the time, I don't think you can say that for Lloyd. The only time Lloyd seemed to try was when he bulked up last offseason, but obviously eating more was about the only extra effort he was willing to put forth.
I also find the TJ Duckett situation baffling.

Let's stick with players only and not use this as another excuse to bash the likes of Snyder or Spurrier.

I say Lloyd. Simply because he such an asshole. He's mean to the coaching staff, he's mean to parking attendents, he's a dick to some of the players that supported him. At least the other guys like Arch and Duckett aren't bad people. They were bad moves but we gave up two draft picks for a bad player and a dick.

Im gonna chime in on Bruce Smith again. I really hated this move. Do you guys remember us keeping him in just to get that record sack, then he never saw the field again. He was terrible. and im not sure but didnt he get a 1 1/2 sacks that game to get the record. He was worthless.

With the owner being the exception, I'm going to agree with most of the above in terms of both cost and production. If I had to pick just one, I'd have to say Jeff George simply because his acquisition destroyed the chemistry of what had been a pretty formidable unit the year before his arival.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?

I think it's Lloyd, quite honestly.

First, Stubblefield, George, and Deion at least all started for us. So at least they played. So to me, it rules them out.

Archuleta, Lloyd, and Duckett are the candidates I'm considering for this dubious distinction. None of them played hardly at all.

But Archuleta was a free agent who we gave a lot of money and managed to recoup some of his cap space in a deal with the Bears. So all we did there was give him $5 million.

Duckett was a guy we gave a pick for, but we didn't pay him hardly anything. He was cheap on cap space.

But Lloyd cost a 3rd round pick, a 4th round pick, plus a $10 million bonus of which we'll eat about half in deadcap space in 2009. We gave up picks, we gave up money, and we didn't recoup any of it. To me, that move hurts the most.

We didn't even really get any amusing/annoying threads from Duckett though. As Lloyd's exploits (and some people's fervent defense of him) kept us inadvertently entertained.

We traded multiple picks for Lloyd. Ignore money which is basically a non factor for our team. Lloyd by a mile in my opinion.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?

Jeff George by far...his signing ripped apart the team and undermined Brad Johnson right after the team had finally turned a corner. Arch & Lloyd may have been worse players then George but no signing in the Snyder era had a more lasting negative affect on the franchise as Jeff George.

Re: Who was the worst acquisition of the last 10 years?

Was a hard decision between Lloyd and Archie. They both sucked pretty hard but I chose Archie just because we shelled out so much money for him to suck.

But Lloyd was just an all-around loser. Not only did he suck but it seems as if anyone who came within a 10 foot radius of him got their morale shot down.

It's one thing if you're a quiet loser but its a completely different story if you're a loudmouth ass.

I can't believe Lloyd isn't running away with this. For those blasting on Bruce Smith I'm really at a loss over that. He at least a productive and serviceable player. Lloyd barely got on the field.

No votes for Stubby yet?

I guess we've already forgotten how bad he was?

He was bad, but that was such a stunning fall from grace that it was hard to blame the Skins. I mean the guy had 15 sacks, made the pro bowl, and was defensive player of the year right before we signed him. Then all of a sudden he sucks. There was no explaining that, and for me, very hard to fault the Skins on that one.

However, everyone in the league knew Jeff George was a piece of dogsh*t, and everyone in the league knew Brandon Lloyd was a locker room problem in SF. And we gave up picks and major $ for Lloyd.

As bad as lloyd was the team made the playoffs this past year all be it with no help from him. No signing damaged the future of the franchise more then Jeff George. This is not even close in my opinion...the question needs to be answered from a view point of how much the decision damaged the franchise not just how little the player produced individually.

Kijana Carter has got to be up there...

And i'm gonna go ahead and throw this one out at the risk of being unpopular...John Hall. I have never seen a kicker been so coddled and at the same time so injured, while also being overcompensated and contributing under expectations.
