Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
The FO looks like they may have had a change of philosophy! I don't like that trade niether...glad to see the egos calm in the FO. This team is good and can get better slowly!!! Draft wisely!

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
I think this is wise, to not trade picks for injury prone players.. you only take a chance on injury prone players who are a free agent, because then you dont have any picks tied to them.
You better make sure you are getting a sure fire stud ( unlike the signings in the recent past) because i will almost guarantee trading them picks will come back to bite you in the ass. |

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
Reasonable people with disagree. If the Eagles demanded a 2nd rounder or less, I'd pull the trigger. Lito is a 26 year old Pro Bowl corner with 4 years left under contract and his cap figures are more than reasonable, especially when you consider that top flight corners are getting about $9M per year in today's market. Granted, you might find a great, young corner towards the end of the 2nd round at an even better price. But then again, you could draft a total bust or just a serviceable backup. It would be a close call, but a late 2nd rounder IMO would be worth it.

I wonder if a la Walker, they release Sheppard and we can get him without giving up anything but cap space.[/quote]
With the amount of money they handed Samuels I could see this as a distinct possibility. I still wouldn't shy away from giving a 3rd for him....what's the old NFL adage? You can never have too many good corners. Springs, as much as I love him, is no spring (no pun intended) chicken. I can see a future of Lito, Fred and Carlos.

Tell you what I'd trade the 2nd if we get Lito and their 4th rounder (do they have a fourth rounder?)

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
I have heard this arguent before but it is a fallacy. So many of us quibble with us letting guys go but when another team is getting rid of a guy then "there has to be a good reason". My guess is that he isn't happy for whatever reason and/or can't stay healthy but these are things we already know or are irrelevant. I think I'd still let them, cut him instead. If someone wants to trade for him then let it not be us giving up picks and letting them get extras.
