It's certainly his choice since OTAs are not mandatory, but from what the WaPo says Zorn was less than impressed with the decision. I might also point out that it is a decision that fits with what we know of Landry so far. He is a great athlete on the field and made some plays that other guys could not, but he also displayed a lack of discipline in games against Arizona, Chicago, New York Jets, and New York Giants with late hits and taughting penalties (against Plaxico Burress) that were unnecessary and extended opponents drives. He's also skipped out on much of the offseason workout routine and has routinely blown off committments he has made at autograph signings. It just seems to speak to a bit of a pattern that would indicate to me he still has some growing up to do and that he might be thinking of himself as a superstar player just a tad bit earlier than he should.
Who cares?? Every single team in the NFL has guys that skip OTA's. I remember ST doing some of the same things Landry is doing now. He'll be ready come opening day and I'm not worried about it. Plus the defense is going to be pretty much the same. He has some growing up to do as do a lot of young players. No big deal.

Did you see him in the race video with Clinton Portis? Landry certainly looks in shape to me, he looked absolutely chiseled. Not to mention fast as hell.

Landry's going to have a huge year, he's definitely nothing to worry about.
I totally agree with everything you said I never thought about it that way...great response

Stuart Schweigert is a decent signing, he is a marginal upgrade over Doughty. I think we will end up keeping five safeties on the roster this year, those being: LaRon Landy, Stuart Schweigert, Reed Doughty, Chris Horton, and Kareem Moore. Vernon Fox, Justin Hamilton, and Patrick Ghee are most likely goners.

Everything I've heard about this guy hasn't been good so far. I hope he's able to contribute and make the team, but if he gets cut I won't be crying for him.

Oakland Raiders Fans Should Stop Hating on Stuart Schweigert | Bleacher Report

Oakland Raiders: Stuart Schweigert Speaks Out About His Release | Bleacher Report

Here are two articals I found that make him sound potentially really promissing. The second one is him defending himself, and talks about the "cover 0", which i had never heard of before today. Also read somethings about how hes a more natural SS, which is what I guess he will be used as here. Sounds like either way hell be at least very good depth, and will allow us to drop Fox, allowing us to still have good experience at safey and get us younger and bigger too.

I'm I missing something? When did saden become a verb?

This is a solid move. I think we are really shoring up the safety position with quality depth. I believe Stuart Scheweigert will be a strong contender for a starting role at FS.

Honestly I believe he is going to be the starter come opening day. He has the experience and I believe he has the skills. Especially if they are moving Landry back to SS, I think he is the best qualified on our roster to play FS.

Everyone's quick to pencil him in at FS, when he (Schweigert) thinks he's best used at SS. I think Landry played very solidly at the FS spot. But probably gives us the best backup swingman if Landry gets hurt. Fox is on the small side but, I cannot forget how well he played against CAR two seasons ago. He'll find work the day he's let go.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind.

When he ( Scheweigert ) thinks hes best used as SS...? Hes a FS and thats what he wants a chance to compete at.

Both Blache and Schweigert indicated that he's looking to compete at Free Safety. Schweigert even said that he thought Landry was the Strong and he'd compete at Free, though I'm not sure how much of that is a lack of familiarity with the dynamics of the team, though you would think he would have had those sorts of discussions with the coaching staff prior signing. Those post-practice interviews are up on Redskins.com. Wouldn't make much sense to me, but we'll see.
