Re: Impressive rookies
Brooks did well punting. Especially the one that he got to stick on their 8 yard line

Re: Impressive rookies
I thought the rookies did well. If they can maintain or improve on the things they did tonight, some could be moving up the depth chart. horton and jackson impressed me, never seen them play before and after being late draft picks, they showed me they can ball.

Disapointed to hear though that Tryon got beat up (my attention during the game went in and out during the second half). Tryon is actually one of Vinny's favorite guys which would explain why he passed up Dre Moore to draft him. Hopefully he gets his stuff together and ends up being a poor mans Tye Hill (like NFL.com promised in his draft profile). However Rob Jackson, Chris Horton, Colt Brennan, Fred Davis, Chad Rhinehart. After tonight thats looking like a good draft. Can't wait to see Kelly and Thomas. However at this rate I'd be surprised if we see Moore play. I feel like they're going to put him on IR for some reason.

Re: Impressive rookies
I was big on Rhinehart in April and now I'm even more impressed by him. Tryon proved that he can talk but that is about it. I was really impressed by JC (I know he isn't a rookie) and Colt but Collins looked shaky. Horton's head's up play on the opening kickoff after Khary flubbed the kick was great and he played solid D all night. If Rob Jackson keeps playing well he can probably pass Wilson and Evans on the depth chart. I'd be surprised though if he doesn't develop an injury that will force him onto IR before the 4th preseason game.

Re: Impressive rookies
Glad people aren't getting carried away and making too many conclusions based on the HOF game.

Re: Impressive rookies
Colt Brennan looked awesome. Hopefully he'll become a solid back up after Todd Collins is gone.

Re: Impressive rookies
I'm surprised more ppl aren't talking about Mason, even though he is not a rookie. I think he played pretty hard, and though our RB position is pretty solid, i think he is worth taking a look at. He was pounding it up the gut like we have needed in the past and I think the Gibbs/Bugel rushing offense is tailored for his skills set.
One thing irks me about Rock Cartwright...he is a great, scrappy player with many rare intangibles qualities but he does NOT have a nose for the line to gain (1st down/goal line/etc). He likes to bounce it out too much and spends way too much time on his cutbacks. It's really starting to piss me off to have to watch him dance around the line of scrimmage instead of getting positive yardage. I almost wanna say that we should keep him for strictly special team activities.

Re: Impressive rookies
I liked Horton and Brennen, but they were playing against scrubs. Promising, yes, but far from being put on the next HOF ballots. Matt's right though, it's nice to see something to look forward to.

Re: Impressive rookies
I'm mostly just impressed with the way the team played as a whole. Very few mistakes, very few stupid penalties, the offense was able to move the ball, and the defense clamped down in the redzone. It was just the first preseason game and we played a Colts team that was missing a ton of starters (including probably the best QB in the league), but I'm encouraged by how we played as a whole. Davis made some great cathches, Colt made some great throws, Horton was all over the place, and Rinehart was impressive. So overall, there's some reason to be high on our rookies right now. For me, I'm just glad we didn't come out looking completely inept like we often have in recent years past in the preseason.
