Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
I think it would be a mistake to cut Mason, if anything trade him. He's the NFL leading rusher during the pre-season, granted he played an extra game than all the other RB's.

Trade a 4th string RB who in all likelihood is going to be cut? Good luck with that.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
The guy has got talent, if he gets cut and someone else picks him up, they'll get a steal and we'll be bitching that we got nothing for him in return.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
Blackistone on comcast was saying that Kelly was like this at OU, always out w/injuries. JLC said a lot of teams considered both he & thomas to be brittle.
I wasn't expecting either of those guys to get 50+ catches in their rookie year, but maybe 50 between them. I think Thomas is on course to play some. He needed more preseason work, but I think after a few games on the bench he'll show in practice that he's ready to get some action in multiple wr sets. If McMullen is in, I wonder about Mix? Chris Wilson helped his cause last night. |

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
Hey I have the number for the magical trade fairy who can setup a deal where we trade our 4th string RB, likely to be cut, for a proven LB. Think Vinny'd be interested?

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
I was talking to an Oklahoma fan recently who said that Kelly is soft when it comes to playing injured. Sounds like another WR with 1st round talent that we picked in the 2nd round when the OBC was here. I'm not saying that Kelly will flame out as badly as Taylor "The Ultimate Softy" Jacobs did, but I'm alarmed by the way this has played out in recent weeks.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
That's the way it goes. I just don't see any team out there that would want to give up a draft pick for him.

I would keep 4 RBs. People get hurt.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
Well obviously we aren't going to cut Kelly, but what does everyone think about the fact that he could land on IR, effectively shelving for a full year a player we took with our 2nd pick who was known to have knee issues? Doesn't Zorn and/or Vinny have some sort of close friendship to an Oklahoma coach who sold them on Kelly?
This sucks.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
I think Malcolm gets put on PUP, which puts him out to week 6.
Also for anyone that hasnt seen the presser, go watch it on redskin.com. I think JLC assumes a lot from his analysis. JZ is kinda alusive and then in Redskin Insider JLC makes it sound like stone.

Re: Marcus Mason not a lock to break the final 53
I wish we would hear about the cuts. I guess we will have to wait til sometimes on saturday.. just hate the suspense. then maybe after we see the cuts we might be able to tell if they are looking for a vet in FA to fill any spots..
