Learn to pick your moments.

Besides, no one thought Swishy would make it anyway. He loves to shank it left.

The fans and the media: Every ounce of praise heaped on Zorn shouldn't automatically be followed with a criticism of Gibbs. It's getting old already.
I didn't take Zorn's lashing of Brooks as an indication that he was melting down at all, in fact I think by doing so he was setting the tone for the team. F up and lose focus and you're going to get an earful. I guess it's a departure from what we saw under Gibbs, but personally I like to see a coach ripping into someone now and then.

What other meltdowns has he had already?

Or how about that horrible roughing the passer he had? I like Smoot in general but sometimes he gives you one of those "WTF" moments.

I hadn't noticed any others either and I think Brooks deserved it this time around. As a holder you are responsible to see if the official is still over the ball which would prevent you from kicking the ball, he didnt do that. In essence as Zorn said in his press conference, we iced our own kicker.

He completely lost it during the Panthers game, which is something you guys didn't see. One of the guys from Redskinsheads was on the field and he said it was pretty ugly. Also, I can't remember which game, maybe the Giants, but Zorn was going off and one of the commentators said the same thing about him needing to basically get a grip and setting the tone. Zorn even said himself in his last presser that he was drilling Jason to the point that Campbell put his hand up like, "OK... enough. I got it coach."

As far as Brooks goes, it was the amount of time he spent berating him. We're in the last few minutes of the game. I think he should have been more focused on other things at that point. I don't want a completely stoic coach, but I don't want one who flies off the handle at any given moment either.

Yeah I do agree that he probably spent too much time railing on Brooks. I guess right now I'd just chalk it up to him being a rookie head coach and still finding his way a bit. I do see your point, and I think Zorn is probably aware of it too. He does seem to model himself after Holmgren, and he's one of the hotter heads in the league.

I would say typical for an NFL rookie that just scored his FIRST NFL TD.

Run Blocking. I'm so tired of seeing Portis hit before he gets to the LOS. Open some running lanes for this man and our offense, with its new and improved passing game, will be explosive.

I feel like he can't ever get a head of steam straight up the gut. When we flip it to him on a toss/sweep kind of play he can almost always get around the corner for at least 7 or 8 yards.

Anquan Boldin saw that cushion Fred was giving him and was like, "thanks for the TD." And then he caught a TD.

I feel the same way. What I don't understand is how Betts had gaping holes to run through in the middle of the line in 2006. Every time I see Portis run up the gut, it looks like 9 defenders are stacked right behind the DTs.

Oh that's a bummer. You gotta compartmentalize, SS! I have Tony Romo in one league and Marion Barber in another. You better believe they'll both be in my starting lineups this weekend. When it comes to fantasy I want to win games and win money. It sucks to see other players score against the Skins, but it is what it is.

I only break this rule for ONE player. Terrell F-ing Owens. This is my 8th season playing fantasy football. Never drafted him, never will. I just can't cheer for that man. He's been on my shit list ever since he ran Mooch outta SF.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Week 3)

Regarding run-blocking, we obviously don't have a dominant run-blocking line. That being said, as we established the pass during the course of the game it seemed like the lanes started to get bigger. Moreover, when we needed to run for first downs at the end of the game to seal it we were able to. So 4.4 ypc for Portis, while perhaps not equal to the "CP of old," is enough to carry us this season. When CP complained in that article, his point was not that our line sucks, but rather that it's difficult for anyone in the NFL to run when the defense is selling out against the run. As JC continues to succeed, and Zorn continues to call passes in situations in which we would have run in the past, CP will continue to have less to complain about I think.

I think you are right. With that said, I wonder how ticked CP would be if the linemen did a radio show and said "just once we'd like to see how many more YPC LaDainian Tomlinson could get behind our blocking".

Yeah, I thought it was really uncool what he said. Didn't get where he was coming from and don't understand what he means when he says he was taken out of context. But winning heals all wounds right?
