Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Are we putting Brooks on IR or outright releasing him?

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Sure, there are different degrees of waste, but a waste none the less.
Still stupid to pick up someone who would have been on the open market after the draft. Will it really matter? No. It's more of a shot at VC. I'll get over it. |

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
I find it hard to call a 6th or 7th rounder a waste. Those are the type of picks you can gamble with.
Horton hasn't turned out too bad eh? I think that cancels out any "waste" factor with Brooks. |

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
The funny thing about Horton is that I could argue that Horton is playing as well as Brooks was supposed to.

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Well if read correctlywe signed this new guy to a two year deal so I think that means the door for Brooks. I think there is more to this story then just Brooks performance on the field. didn't he smart off to Shushis (I can't get his name right) maybe he has rubbed others wrong.

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
I agree. We could've, most likely, got Brooks as an UDFA. Why not draft someone else in the 6th? As we know all to well with this team draft picks are at a minimum and we have to try to make the most out of every selection. Who knows we could've uncovered another gem like Horton with Brooks selection we'll never know.

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
You guys are bitching about a 6th rounder that didn't pan out but not complaining about two second rounders that have hardley seen action. What say you about that?

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Yeah, Frost is not laughing...he's about to get cut by Green Bay, too.
Brooks was a waste of a pick, but not a high pick, so the waste was limited. In VC's defense (a position I don't always occupy), if Brooks had panned out, it would have been great. An excellent punter is a real weapon when it comes to the field position game. It is a shame that Brooks was a gamble lost. And yes, we might have been able to sign him for free without losing a draft choice, but someone else may have scooped up the Ray Guy award winner first. |

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Thomas is at least seeing some playing time. Kelly has been injured, not much to say there. Neither of those guys are killing us on the field the way Brooks was.

But with all due respect to Vinny he did a pretty good job with Colt, Rhinehart, and Horton and I'm more then willing to give the 3 second rounders a little more time.

Re: Redskins Add New Punter
Given how solid this year's draft is looking from top to bottom I don't know how you are going to complain about one guy not working out.
