Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
One big difference between the Rams and the Lions is quarterback. The Rams have a bona fide QB; the Lions have someone who would not be playing but for the injury to Kitna. I say we run the ball 50 times.

Based on pass history, if its a shutout the score will be anywhere from 2-0 to7-0, either way

Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
Well if you look at our loss to the Rams then look at how they ran right over Dallas then we can honestly say they are not that bad of a team. They really got lucky in that we really beat ourself and the ball bounced their way. Then look at the Browns and how they romped the Giants so we could argue that they are also not as bad as people think. Now the Lions are a differenty story and I feel we will score alot and often against them.

I would like a blow out, but we seem to play down to these lesser teams. So all i want is a win

This should be the blowout everyones been looking for. Like Matty, I'll be surprised if they even score on us.

Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
The Lions are indeed that bad. They are as bad as last year's Dolphins.
The Redskins should score at least 30 points against them - - and maybe 40. The Lions' pass defense is awful and they cannot stop the run. Other than that... I don't think it is reasonable to expect the Skins' defense to pitch a shut-out, but holding the Lions to 10 or under is definitely a reasonable expectation.

Anything can happen but listen, if we want to do some big things in 2008, I think we need a big game to show we can put some points on the board. I feel like we're right there, but just can put it all together.
We need to show we can win comfortably against inferior teams. We need a 17+ point differential this week. The Lions do have some talent but we have much more. |

Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
In the NFL you can never overlook an opponent. Anyone can beat you. We need to take the Lions very seriously.
That having been said, if we take the Lions seriously, this week is our best chance for the blowout which we all have been rooting for. The Lions are miserable in every phase of the game except #1 WR. They appear to be much worse than either the Rams or the Browns. I believe that the Bengals would win a matchup against the Lions. The Lions are averaging being down 9-0 at the end of the first quarter. We need to go up on them quickly. The Lions do have ex-Redskin Martin Mayhew in the front office. Maybe he'll improve them for next year. |

Aren't we always nervous about the Lions but we always end up blowing them out.

Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
I watched the Lions several times last year, and what always stood out is how bad they are in the trenches. They can get those big passes in the open field (of course Roy E. isn't there anymore) but they had no idea how to operate in the red zone and in short yardage situations. I thought they might rectify that this year with Martz gone, but they're even worse in those situations this year. The Lions have no concept of running the ball, wearing out the opponent, controlling the clock, all the things the Redskins excel at.

Re: Are the lions really as bad as they seem?
The Browns are a mid-level team. The Rams are playing inspired since dumping Linehan (and they have 3 of the better skill players in the league). Why do people think either of these teams are horrible but somehow the Eagles are great?
The Lions on the other hand are historically bad. Like, '76 Bucs bad. They are definitely looking at the #1 overall pick (hopefully another in the top 10 if the Pokes implode). If they score a TD Blache might pummel someone on the sidelines.
