Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

I think the main reason we have won so many is due to Portis and Campbell.
The D is better than I thought it would be....
But Portis' ability to keep the clock rolling and Campbell's lack of ints basically have won us half the games....and that points to the oline to an extent.

I was honestly expecting like 3-5 at this point considering a rookie head coach.
6-2 is AWESOME.

Just think...we are ranked #7 in offense.
Imagine if we were ranked higher than #23 in points scored.
That is the only reason we haven't been consistently winning by 2 scores.
Although I am obviously happy we are winning, as Matty said, imagine how much better they will be once they start cashing in on all those yards.
They can be quite good....but right now, struggling with easy teams,
They are a wild card contender, just like the end of last year.
They need to step it up if they want to make a run for the Super Bowl.
Opportunities like this don't come around very often.

I'm always OVERLY optimistic at the beginning of the year but 6-2? For the first time in a very long time this team has exceeded my expectations coming out of the gate. And yes, it is scary how good this team can be given time. I was already telling myself to be patient with this new offense. It would take a couple of years to implement it to the degree of having any real success. The job the coaches and players have done is nothing short of outstanding. I've been saying once the "O" gets clicking, WTF OUT! We're so close fellas. So close.

a little more luck and we could have been 8-0... a little bit less luck, and well...

good job so far, but there are definitely places to improve, and our rookie pull, so far, has sucked . at least horton is rocking it.

Portis is having another great season and if a big part of it, but have to give dues to the OLine, especially the left side. They are doing a great job of opening holes for Portis. Run blocking has been awesome and pass blocking so so, but Campbell has made good decisions so far when under pressure.

Ya with some bad luck we could easily be 2-6 considering games have been so close and we haven't turned the ball over. We haven't dominated any game which I would love to see. Hopefully that is coming. If we are going to have a hot streak and start scoring, the second half of the season is a good time to start.

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

Let's not forget the emergence of Chris Horton as a strength that became a weakness after ST died, also the spectacular comeback by Carlos Rogers.

I'm thrilled with our ability to move the ball, but I want to see us winning the turnover battle. Lately we've been losing that battle.

When we go to play NYG, Dallas, and Philly again - the games that will make or break our season - we're going to need the turnover battle on our side.

The offense is doing a decent enough job protecting the football lately, but the defense isn't generating any. We need to turn that around, and I'd point toward the pass rush. We need to generate more pressure on the QB, that should lead to the turnovers which would allow us to start winning more convincingly.
I would think the turnovers would start coming our way again once we get our defense back to full strength. We have been missing at least 2 or 3 defensive starters a week. If we can get this unit together, healthy, and really playing as a unit they could be scary good. ( With turnovers coming thier way. ) How about London Fletcher. That guy is all over the field usually with Horton hot on his heels.

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

Think of preseason concerns:
1. Oline getting old, injuries.
2. Can Campbell stop fumbling and win games?
3. LB depth problem
4. Safety...particularly Doughty....and depth
5. DE/sack ability problem
6. DT not strong enough
7. Who's our punter?
8. Can Carlos Rodgers even come back by midseason...and can he even equal past?
9. Can McIntosh come back within 1st Month, will he perform?
10. Can Moss and Campbell ever synch up?
11. Will ARE return punts worth a crap?
12. Will our Rookie WR/TE get playing time, are they good or do they suck?
13. Can Zorn be a Head Coach? Can he call plays?
14. Will we regret ditching Gregg Williams?
15. How will we play the Cowboys with a new coach?

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

I am happy with the first half and confident they will keep it rolling. They will be battle tested and ready for the playoffs. Everyone must admit this team plays for 60 mins.

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

I think most of us are in agreement...6-2 at mid-season is awesome. However, my two concerns for the second half of the season are;
1. D-Line getting pressure on the QB, which could lead to some much needed Defensive turnovers.
2. And our lack of a 2-minute offense. It seems the no huddle does not exist.

1. our line is playing pretty damn solid
2.i say sign this man to a long term extension...pronto. the longer you wait and if he gets to the pro bowl...we will pay more
3. our line backers have played great..fletch is a monster
4. ala horton
5. still an issue..
6. could be better, but playing adequate.
7. a chunky former seattle seahawk
8. possibly pro bowl bound? who would have thought?
9. been playing very very solid...would like to see more aggresiveness here and there.
10. umm yes....and it kick ass.
11. no...no he cant.
12. no...no they arent worth crap..at least not yet.
13. he rocks so far.
14. i am GLAD we ditched greg...it makes me feel...well kinda zorny.
15. 1 done the second to come.

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

On the monday morning quarterback this morning on espnradio with kevin sheehan and the guys they compared the team to a really powerful engine that is running but sputters occasionally. So true, whats in place has more potential than anything and as games go by hopefully they solidify and we see how dangerous this team, esp. the offense can be. Who would have though this after that opening Giants loss? ummm..nobody

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

It was'nt all pretty, but we got to learn while still winning. You can't beat that, I believe we've just begun and still have a tremendous upside. Think when Samuels, and Horton are back. And I'll take our D against anybody on the weeks Spring does'nt have a yeast infection or vaginitis. By the way that fat fuck peter king still has us behind buffalo and now new england, Who has buffalo even played and miami just beat them give me a break. We were sloppy but we won they lost What the fuck?

Re: 6-2 thru mid-season

considering i had us for an 8-8 season (give or take a win based on shuisham missing or making a last second fg) and needing to win the last 4 to make the playoffs, i am freakin pumped at being 6-2!! while we all expected a work in progress season it still is but the great thing is we havent even clicked on all cylinders yet. they say you have to hit your stride at the right time and i think we have some stride hitting to do in the latter part of the season.

one thing im surprised to find out: we have given up 17 passes 20+ yards and something like 4 passes over 40 yards. i know fitzgerald had one but 4 really seems high. i was just surprised we had given that many big pass plays up so far.

go skins!!
