Re: Spagnuolo!!

He took over a 9-7 team that went to the playoffs. He is 1-5 in the last six games. Our team looks like a high school team. Penelties and play calling that has resembled Spurrier. I think Zorn should never have been hired in the first place. I hope wether they fire him or not it works out, but I am skeptical that he is the right coach.

I believe we have more athletes than the Giants do but hey they have a better scheme. I know we want consistency but Zorn and Campbell both need to go. Spagnuolo, Eagles QB coach as defensive coordinator and an assistant from Giants that he may bring with him to be the defensive coordinator would be alright heading into the future. Also m a new special teams coach. What do you guys think?
This thread is so stupid. The Giants won the SB for a reason. They had the best players. Our players are not as good as theirs. You talk about Taylor and Carter but you fail to realize that they're not top NFL pass rushers. Is he going to bring the Giants defensive line with him too?? Get real bro.

Well, we absoultely don't have a Justin Tuck, but we have the rest of the pieces Spags has.

Now, obviously, having the best weapon in the NFL makes him look a lot smarter, but he knows what he's doing, I think.

Bill Walsh 1979 2-14; Bill Parcells 1983 3-12-1; Jimmy Johnson 1989 1-15; and our own Joe Gibbs 1981 8-8
Might as well throw in Andy Reid 5-11

Methinks you overestimate some of the Skins' players. Can any of the Skins' DTs really get any playing time on the Giants? Not without injuries...

Both DEs on the Giants - - Kiawanuka and Tuck - - are better than any/all of the DEs on the Skins. Hell, the Giants DL is good enough to make Philip Daniel look good - - and we know that didn't happen here.

At LB, it is a wash in the middle; both teams are strong there. But Blades and Rocky wouldn't start for the Giants on the outside. Not even close.

I think Spagnuolo is a very good DC - - better than Greg Blache and better than Gregg Williams and the equal of Jim Johnson in Philly - - AND he has superior talent to the Skins on the defensive side of the ball.

Ergo: Giants win the AFC East this year after a Super Bowl last year and Skins now need a miracle to sneak into the playoffs.

See, I think that is part of the problem. Thinking that we were good last year because we went to the playoffs. 9-7? One less win and we would have been 8-8. I'm not sure we even deserved to go to the playoffs. We overachieved the last few games, I believe, because of the emotion over Seans death, and because Collins had been in Saunders system so long. Collins not only surprised us, but other teams as well. The fact is, we were pretty mediocre last year and with the rookies not contributing right away we are basically the same team, only learning yet another system. I don't know if he is the right coach either. I think he needs more time for us to find out.

I think ppl get too complacent over our last two "trips" to the playoffs, and forget that in both times we were the 6th seed. This team needs to be more proactive than reactive. If you have been the 6th seed in the playoffs for two years, then your goal should be to get into the playoffs at a higher seed and/or win your division.

The same goes for the way we "win" our games. This year we had all these wins by just a few points, and everyone was fine and dandy while this was going on, yet very few were concerned about the struggles and the games that were won on the last drive, on an opponent's missed field goal or an opponents failed last drive.

Re: Spagnuolo!!

Mr. Zorn,

Please execute your head out of your ass at a medium pace. I have seen hillbilly high school coaches call better games than you.

Swallow your pride, coach. If you're fortunate enough to keep your job with the Redskins next year, step down as play caller and find yourself a coordinator- preferably one that sits up in the booth and can see the field, doesn't run on every first and second down, and is well versed in the Gibbs-Holmgren-neo-funk-west-coast-hybrid-offense.

Oh, and challenge yourself. See if you and your new assistant can scheme up some crazy package that involves two rookies being on the field simultaneously.

Good luck,

Loyal Fan

I'd take Carter over Kiwanuka, who are pretty comparable. Robbins would be the best DT on the Skins, I think, but Cofield and Monty are pretty comparable, and I would take Golston and Griffin over whatever depth they have (Alford, Tollefson). Evans is better than Wynn, I hope.

Then it just comes down to Tuck vs. Taylor, which is no contest.

I agree that the Giants OLBs are much better.

Re: Spagnuolo!!

While I know that Zorn has kinda screwed the pooch this season (and I have said some bad things about him) for some reason I am still not totally opposed to having him for a second year. There definitely needs to be changes, but I still think Zorn deserves another shot. Oh, and I do not want that washed up piece of shit, Jim Fassel in Washington. Remember how well he did act offensive coordinator for the Ravens? When you look at it, he had two good years in New York, that's it.

That's because the Ravens never had much in the way of offensive personnel, much less a quarterback. That team was plagued with bad offenses for years before Fassel was ever a part of the organization. It would be like the first mate taking over the captain's chair on the Titanic on it's way down to the ocean floor and blaming him for the disaster.

I never understood the deep-rooted hatred for Jim Fassel. This was a guy who had a winning record against each of his NFC East opponents and guided his team to the Super Bowl. He accomplished way more than any coach in Washington has done since 1991, that's for sure.

When you look at the people who have had second chances at being head coach (Dave Wanstedt, Norv Turner, Art Shell) it's mystifying as to why Fassel hasn't had a second shot.

Agree wholeheartedly. I was hoping we had picked him. But...bygones

Re: Spagnuolo!!

Spagnola has talent on his team. They have great management and a great game plan.

Belicheck, Noll, Lombardi, Landry, and Bill Parcells could all coach our team at the same time and not get much more out of them.

It starts at the top.
