Completely agree. Offseason and preseason is for evaluating and trying things out.

Re: Redskins vs. 49ers week

it hurts really bad not playing past this week. especially with our group of guys...The Rams loss really hurt us...if we coulda won that one we would have been in much better shape at this point, same goes in Cinci...where was the Defense that day? But ALL in ALL we still have alot of promise on our roster in its entirety.
with that said...
LETS BEAT THE HELL OUT OF THE NINERS TO CLOSE OUT THIS SEASON!..and move on to the offseason.

I agree about the play to win, it's the only way. 2 things I would like to see is to give Rob Jackson and Rinehart playing time, the way Fabini looks I don't think Rinehart playing would hurt the team anymore and with Alexander benched activate Jackson.

Re: Redskins vs. 49ers week

Shaun Hill is going to show us why he should be the starting QB for us. He is going to pass for over 250, with 1 TD, and Gore will bang in another. We will lose 17-10...

OR... Fred Davis scores his first two TD's of his career, and Portis gets us some legitimate fantasy points with 100 yards and 1 TD, and we win 21-17...

I do like the idea of activating Jackson. He seemed to have potential in pre-season. I'd like to see what he can do.

I'm going to be in Jersey tomorrow. Guess I'll be stuck watching the Jets or God forbid, the Giants.

That sucks!!!!!!! This better not mean we are destined to have the same crappy offense in '09!!! Would have been nice just to see something different from our offense.

Re: Redskins vs. 49ers week

i want to win the game. with that being said, how does Zorn know how these players will react to game situations, if they dont play? not playing Kelly, and Jackson, and Rinhart and the rest is dumb

Agree, nothing compares to real game experience! I would like the Skins to win also but, I'm sure Hall gets the job because of his on field play. Had they waited to evaluate him off season, we would see Carlos playing. So clearly playing some of our bench warmers makes sense. IMO

This is from an article written from an interview with our boy Vinny Cerrato:

No longer in the hunt for an NFC wild-card berth, the Redskins could use their final game as an audition for next season, giving rookies such as Rinehart and Tryon playing time with the first team. But with the opportunity to finish with consecutive victories, "we're looking to win the game," Cerrato said. Rinehart "hasn't played yet. It makes no sense to do that. How's that fair to [starting left guard] Pete Kendall? We're not into evaluating, we're into winning the last two games in a row."

So basically, any of you hoping some rookies would get time Sunday (Rinehart, Tryon, Brennan), oh well.

I'm not on the bandwagon saying winning Sunday and finishing 9-7 is a big deal. What's wrong with letting a bunch of guys show what they can do with/against a first team offense/defense?? What's so wrong if they don't help win and we finish 8-8?

We should be focused on 2009 and beyond right now shouldn't we? That's jusy MY opinion, but regardless, I also think it's stupid to not give these guys and opportunity to show what they can do....
I disagree 100%. If we had 2, 3 or 4 wins then I'd be all for it. These guys will get plenty of work in pre season games.

No need to get irritated! This argument can go both ways. The Cowboys just found out what a gem of a running back they have in Theshard Choice. He was not supposed to play this season but was put in because of Barber's injuries. Well, he lit it up last week.

And guess what? JJ said he earned a starting position this week no matter how Barber plays.

Bet they are happy they didn't wait till offseason to evaluate him!

I am new to the board...
Yup I will be at the game. DH got me tickets for my birthday and the best BDay gift will be having the Redskins beat the Niners in their own back yard!
